I think I originally signed up because I had just gotten a DAS and was interested in customizing it, but never got around to it.
Still got the DAS and I've been wanting to dive more into this hobby so here I am! 4 years later! :P
I ran into r/mechanicalkeyboards on Reddit and found this place again. I think looking at all of the badass builds on there has really got me wanting to get something new and exciting. So hopefully this forum and the sub will provide a lot of research materials!
So anyways what's up all!

it's crazy that you signed up because you got a DAS and you still have it 4 years later. do you like it or just couldn't afford another if you don't mind me asking?

Well I will say that I guess after I got it I was satisfied enough to keep it. It's been an awesome keyboard! I had just got done building my first computer capable of any serious gaming back then and the DAS was the keyboard I sprung for because some of the streamers I watched talked about them all the time. Money was short and it did the job so I rolled with it. I knew there was a whole world of mechanical keyboards out there, but I didn't feel the need to drop serious cash to turn it into a hobby. On top of that I'm very big into photography, cars, and motorcycles so that takes up a lot of funds as well. Hell I still haven't even changed the caps out to anything cool yet.
Like I said in my OP I stumbled r/mechanicalkeyboards and all of the awesome feelings when I got the DAS came flooding back to me and now I think I'm really interested in throwing some money on a better board. And knowing me once I jump down that rabbit hole I'm sure I'll get addicted.
So first thing's first for me I actually want to get a smaller silent board for work as I am tired of this crap Dell rubber cap one then I want to get a better full board for home. Thus begins my journey!

yeah, i'm not surprised you kept your das, i have heard they are really well built. and yes, once you start getting more keyboards, you become addicted :D. i am hooked on vintage boards with alps switches.

The DAS is a tank!
I can't wait to dive into this more....but my wallet is also not looking forward to it haha

not joking, i spent about £200 ($260) on some keyboards in a DAY. my first priority is to sell some, keyboards are a good marketing item for collectors because you can replace what you got rid of.

I can see how you can spend that much money easily haha Some of these can get expensive from what I've been seeing.

really expensive if you think about it. depending on your location, shipping is the most expensive thing. i paid £8 for a chicony 5181 which is extremely cheap but shipping cost around £25 so i broke even considering its in bad shape...

Welcome back to the forum! You've had your eye on some artisan keycaps, you don't have to say it but we all know that you're thinking about them ;)

I've had my eyes on tons of keycaps actually haha I am actually seeing all the amazing stuff I've missed in terms of group buys and massdrops....it saddens me.
Plan is probably buying another keyboard first, then pimp out the old one, then pimp out the new one...then keep buying more...this is gonna be bad for me...

Welcome to Geekhack!
Although that sounds weird saying it to someone who joined before me
A lot has changed since you original joined ...
There's a lot more good keyboards around these days too. Back then you'd have had Filco and Ducky, and maybe a few CM keyboards. Now you're spoiled for choice.
