Title: I need Ergos, with a more pronounced bump
Post by: DALExSNAIL on Mon, 01 August 2016, 17:13:34
I need Ergos, with a more pronounced bump.

I have an ergo modded pok3r with 62g Korean golds, lubed, stickered, etc.

I love it, it feels cushiony and sounds perfect, but I feel like I need a more pronounced bump in the press. Im grabbing some heavier springs to go into another board soon, deciding between Older MX black springs and 72g SPRiTs. Im hoping this will help, but I feel like it wont.

So any thoughts? Is it crazy that I barely notice the bump in these clears when typing?

I don't think you'll find a better tactile MX. Your best bet is to get a Topre board. Or, if you want clicky, BS.

You might want to try a V60 with Matias Quiet Click switches.  A little bit more tactile than clears.  I have both a Pok3r with ergo clears and an Infinity with Quiet Clicks, and I prefer the switch feel of the Quiet Clicks.

just leave Cherry mx if you're searching for that tactile bump.

I suggest trying Tactile alps or Topre

It's sad really, I love custom boards, but topre and alps seem so limited in that category. I sort of like topre, but it doesn't give me the same satisfying feeling of clears. Never tried alps, might have to try quiet clicks, but from what I see from alps lovers on the board they seem underwhelming.

They're only underwhelming compared to some of the no longer produced SKCM Alps.  The worst alps I've tried is as good as the best MX I've tried.

Welp, since it was relatively inexpensive I bid on an apple extended with cream alps. Hopefully I win it.

The quest for the perfect switch is real.

I wouldn't suggest getting cream alps
for tactile its either salmon or orange alps or if you want something that is heavier and more expensive you could always go with the Browns

What are some boards you'd suggest to hunt for?

Either way I'm gonna grab this aek2 if I can, mostly because I love the old apple aesthetic, plus the caps look to be in good shape.

I'd say Matias Quiet Clicks are better than dampened SKCM switches like SKCM Cream/Ivory and SKCM Black, those switches have rough tactility imo. Although I think the dampening on those switches is not as mushy feeling as the Matias and they are somewhat louder.

So would you suggest trying a matias board before hunting an orange or salmon?

No, Salmon and Orange are great switches. I said that SKCM Cream/Ivory or SKCM Black feel rough. Salmon and Orange are great and superior the Matias imo. But the Matias are not as rough feeling as the blacks/creams, they're somewhere between SKCM Orange and SKCM Dampened Cream

I wasnt saying you said to not to grab the other, was just wondering if it would be worth the trouble of finding a lightly used board with Salmons or oranges!  :thumb:

I was searching for boards with salmon or oranges for about an hour but could not find anything decently priced / in decent shape. Are there some good boards to be looking for? I wanna try and grab an older board for reasons and stuff, but I'll be getting a quiet click board alongside it.

Have you guys tried SPRiTs alps springs? Would they potentially give me a similar spring feel as the 62g golds in my ergos? Mostly wondering because aside from my
