Title: Hello All
Post by: Fibonacci_Jones on Tue, 02 August 2016, 21:59:40
Hi everyone. Figured it'd be appropriate for my first post to be here. Really just got into mechanical keyboards somewhat recently and the fever has hit hard. Had a G710+ for a while but something a little smaller to game on. Ended up getting a Ducky One TKL about a month or so ago and got a Pok3r from the recent Massdrop drop as well. Now artisans are arriving in my mailbox and I'm waiting on October for the latest GMK Carbon set to ship out as well.

Glad there are places for me to learn some more and with others that share the same interests.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Nice range of keyboards you have started with - what switches have you got in them?

And which artisans have grabbed your interest?  There are so many these days!

Just noticed your reply. Better late than never I suppose, lol.

I'm using cherry mx Browns in my boards right now. I was used to the general feel from the g710+ and didn't want to spend too much without knowing if like what I'm getting. After feeling the cherry clears though, those feel a little bit better to me.

As for artisans, I've gotten some of the WoB Star Wars keys, one other key from an earlier WoB set (purchased as group deal with one of the Star Wars keys), and recently got a Volkeyno and a MechaShark.

What really piqued my interest and ultimately led me to this forum were the fugus. I didn't know what they were, I just knew I wanted one. I kept searching the Internet looking for a blowfish Keycap with no real success. Then the last sale came up on Reddit and I figured out why I couldn't just easily find one of these.

I'm running way behind on the forum too, total lack of time these days.  It's only fortunate that GH is a little quieter than usual now.

Browns are a reasonable all-round switch, but many people migrate to something else and never look back.  I've never used a keyboard full of browns, but I use clears all day at work and love them!  I suspect browns would be too light for me, as are reds and blues.

Fugus look great!  The problem is, of course, that there are so many to collect.  Unless you prefer one or two colours only, in which case you can set yourself a simple and, hopefuly, attainble goal to get just those couple.
