Title: Realforce RGB info from Their Facebook Page

Not sure if this is new or not, I haven't been keeping up, but might as well share if it hasn't been seen yet.  :)

I wish the diagram showed where the LED was, in relation to the oneness of the cup rubber, and what parts are translucent.

Also, is it really that hard nowadays to get someone fluent in two languages? Really?

they also showed their config tool.

It's possible that the LED doesnt require new domes.

but who knows. We'll find out in a few months. I believe they said they aim to release this at the end of the year.

Topre really likes to take their sweet time, don't they? I remember reading about these like last spring or something.

Looks like mechanicalkeyboards.com will receive a shipment of them before xmas--would be cutting it pretty close, though (Nov. 30th)

No one likes the Web key? (F1)

If I had the money, I'd buy one ASAP.

Definitely one the next boards on my list.

I don't. I'd prefer legends like the ones on the 104U. They should make this in TKL.

I don't care about the legends because the first thing I'm going to do when I get mine is junk the stock keycaps and put PuLSE or Round 6 on it.

I actually don't care for the RGB. What excites me is the MX sliders, which opens up a world of possibilities for keycaps

I could care less about the RGB. If they ever make this in a TKL, I'd buy.

I'm only interested in sphericals, and there aren't any that currently interest me. I also have no interest in another full sized Realforce. TKL or bust.

For me, TKLs are a waste of good switches. Whenever I try to use a NovaTouch, I keep reaching over to enter numbers with the numpad and snarl in frustration when I find it missing. It's like a missing limb or something.

I have a RealForce 104UK Hi-Pro, which is an excellent keyboard, but it suffers from the crippling inability to take any of my SA keycaps. The ANSI-108 format of the RealForce RGB will be a godsend.

Oh, and thank gawd I'll be able to shut off those obnoxious LEDs...

I've used full sized boards for a long time, mostly vintage Model M's, F's, AEK's, etc. I tried the RF 87U and initially missed the numpad, but I've adapted to it and actually tend to prefer TKL now, but that's me.

The 104UK key caps are practically the only ones I'm interested in at the moment. Hopefully I'll find one of the UK Hi-Pro's at some point, mainly for the caps.

Hell yes.  Currently rocking Modern Selectric on the silenced Novatouch here.  It's funny, but I might end up getting this Realforce "gaming" keyboard for work because it has the numpad, and getting a Leopold fc980c for home because it's a bit more compact.  I didn't love the Topre feel for gaming when I tried the Novatouch there, but that was unsilenced and stock keycaps.  I'll have to give it another go since I've modded it.  I have tried SO HARD at work to make the Novatouch with a numpad work, but I do just enough number entry that I can't stand not having it integrated, and I'm not paying for a Realforce numpad.

I have seen the real one in Computex 2016 at Topre Realforce booth. The build quality and typing feel was not as good as the original Realforce (currently in the market). I'd say that the quality is around the same as modern Duckys, using very similar keycaps and with Cherry MX sliders.

Their activation point selection feature were interesting though, they also have another board that works like joystick's analog and will probably be good with driving game, as you will be able to control how hard to push the pedal and im looking forward to get that model.

the leaflet is as seen in the attachment.

This is now on my radar. Due for some colorful **** and those sliders doe!

Also, TKL hate on here. Wtff

I actually took the time and learned how to touch type on  the number row above the alphas. For daily data entry amd browsing,  it's fine. Definitely a good challenge!

I never truly mastered the numrow, to be honest, and I've been touch typing for over 35 years. I still prefer a numpad for entering numbers with more than one or two digits. And I do that surprisingly often.

It's a challenge but possible. I'm very accurate with numbers 1-7 and 0 (and fast). 8 and 9 are a bit of trouble because i rarely use em. I do love TKL and on my desk,  it's best ergonomic solution.

Yeah, the size debate has come up periodically here, and I am unmoved by 99% of the arguments I hear for downsizing keyboards that are hooked up to desktop PCs.

Maybe it's just a matter of what I'm used to, but I have no love for the TKL form factor. It's too big for my iPad, and it lacks a numpad for all other situations. Moreover, I don't have such a tiny space for a keyboard that I have to sacrifice the numpad. Finally, my wrists/hands have yet to suffer any ill effects after three decades of having the mouse positioned beyond the numpad. There are zero ergonomic benefits to a TKL for me, and only the annoying absence of the numpad which my muscle memory is constantly reaching for.

Oh and also, compared to normal Realforce this thing looks like crap. It resembles Razer keyboard more than Topre...
Glossy plastic in a top right corner, white plate, awful gamer-like legends... At least the layout is OK. I don't know what's going on with Topre these days :(

Once you shut off the backlighting, like any civilized person would, and replace the stock keycaps with something lovely, the only remaining aesthetic issue will be that it only comes in black. Does it look exactly like previous RealForce boards? No, but an oversized bezel is not one of the "normal" RealForce's crowning achievements.

I'd say the ratio will be at least 1000-to-1. For every nutter willing to tear apart two Topre boards just to reassemble one of them with the sliders and stabilizers from the other, there will be at least a thousand others who will just use the RealForce RGB board as is, or with keycaps swapped.

Silencing the upstroke would have been ideal, to be sure. In fact, I would gladly trade the backlighting for upstroke silencing (and a white case option), but in world with zero full-size-(authentic)Topre-with-MX-sliders keyboard options, I'll take what I can get.

The NovaTouch had the TKL layout covered quite nicely. You should pick up one of those while you still can.

I wouldn't mind a 60% version of the RealForce RGB (minus the RGB), but I'm not holding my breath. Topre doesn't seem to be terribly fond of the 60% size.

Besides, it would be far cheaper to buy a Noppoo or Royal Kludge and harvest the sliders from that.

Indeed. And if CM had seen fit to produce a 108-key version of the NovaTouch, I'd probably have several by now!

But they never did; I'm grateful that Topre decided to do so (finally).

The stock RealForce RGB is very noisy due to the upstroke thwack of its sliders. However, after spending the last couple of hours transplanting the silencing rings from my Noppoo EC108Pro to my new RealForce RGB, I can report that it is an absolute joy to type on. I have PuLsE keycaps on it, and I have also put neoprene pads around the stems of the keys that I hit the hardest (Backspace, Enter, Spacebar) to help soften their downstroke. With these relatively minor modifications this keyboard has become my favorite.

If only it came with a white case...

Title: Re: Realforce RGB info from Their Facebook Page
Post by: zslane on Fri, 25 November 2016, 11:27:18
I've taken it completely apart in order to install silencing rings on the switch sliders, so I've seen how it is built. It is a very clean, well-made keyboard. Top quality parts all around.

However, it should be noted that some parts are different than previous RealForce boards due to the RGB backlighting. For instance, the switch housings are completely transparent. Does that make them better or worse than standard RealForce switch housings? I couldn't say. All I can say is that they are different. The stabilizers are different too. I've never seen any like them before. But they are completely silent and they work great, so being different isn't a bad thing at all.

The case is perhaps the weakest component, IMO. Its design is different from a typical RealForce board and it doesn't feel as solid to me. But then, my only point of comparison is with my 104UK Hi-Pro board which is built like a tank. Having said that, I don't really notice the case design while I'm typing. After installing silencing rings, it types and sounds like a dream, so I am not at all disappointed. I only wish I could get it in white!

Here's a typing demo on the Realforce RGB.

I ordered one, and it should be here next week.  It will be my Christmas present to myself.  This is my first Topre board, so I'm kind of anxious to see what it feels like.
