Hello Everyone on GeekHack,
I am new to this forum, but as I said in the title, I am not new to forums :p Most of the time I have spent on forums has been digging deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of "DIY Speakers and Subs" :eek: So, once I was finally free of that little hobby for a second i decided to look to the setup that I use the most. After, I build my gaming computer and I finally killed the Logitech K120 that I had and used for many 15+ double sided page reports, I began looking into gaming peripherals. I found the corsair k70 line and it instantly caught my eye. Getting into the Mechanical Keyboard market was the K70 original with the red back-lights and the Cherry MX Brown switches. After I got the keyboard I was originally terribly disappointed with it. The keys were a lot lighter than what i was used to as well as the amount of typos that I made directly after the purchase of the board was ridiculous. Then after the first couple of 20+ page reports I began to really get into the board and appreciated the keys. That is when it all started, I began researching what the best switches are for typing and I found the Cherry MX Blue switches which I was astounded by the amount of people behind that switch. So I thought, "Hey, What the heck!?", and bought a board with them. Now onto finding that board I looked and looked and finally decided, I know that I like the K70 looks and feel, so why not go with that again but this time with RGB back-lighting. At first, I hated the board, the keys were to heavy this time and that clicking was going to take some getting used to. So, I practiced and practiced and now that I have used it so much my typing speed increased from the low 70's to the 85-88WPM mark, at which I am stuck and sometimes peaking at about 91WPM (10FastFingers.com and Typeracer.com). By no stretch am I saying that I am the fastest typing member on this forum :)) I have seen the amount of threads where there are members in the plus 150WPM area! Now here I am, Cherry MX Blues Corsair K70, so deeply enthralled with the mechanical keyboard market that I have found myself reading too many threads on this forum, enough for me to want to join in on it :cool:

You'll find that the more you look into this hobby, the more your wallet will hate you, especially after that lovely USD to CAD conversion.
I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the K70 though! I had one at one point, until the spell of Topre took me over.. pretty solid board.

Many people have found that they type significantly better on one particular switch. There is a possibility that you haven't found your perfect switch yes, as there are dozens of common switches now. Even the same switch in different keyboards can feel different.
But you have started well - although reading threads won't help your typing speed, you need to respond :p

LOL! After being on here for a little while longer my wallet already hates me, and I think that amazon does as well with all of the returns that I have been doing!

Anywho, I have seem to found that the best switch for me right now is still the browns. That being said I have not ventured too far out of the mainstream :cool: With the browns I have been able to hit a pretty consistent 105 peaking around 113 so that has been fun getting there lol it is funny that you said that even the same switch in different keyboards can feel different as the cherry mx blues that I have tried on the Das were miles ahead of the cherry mx blues on my Corsair K70, that being said they both went back :P (the K70 since it was far too loud and I hated the feel of the switches on that board, and the Das since it was too early for me to go to the blank keys :P ) I am still thinking of getting another Das but this time not the Ultimate and actually getting legends on the keys! But then again I would like to try one of the smaller boards that are out there like the HHKB's or the Pok3r's. So we shall see how that goes, right now I am looking at making my desk into an L-shaped that way I have one side with my massive K95 that I use for gaming and my logitech G502, and the other side for my yet to be acquired MX master and a keyboard that will continue with that productivity theme :P That way I will also not have to try and drive my LG 34" 3440*1440 ultrawide for gaming but instead I can go back to my 27" 1080p gaming monitor, from the way that I am looking at it a win-win :P

but the more of us that there are the more we can help each other out. I have a dream to provide artisan keycaps to Canadian enthusiasts for reasonable Canadian prices. I 100% type better on topre! I had to go through a-lot of different types of switches to find what I really was good with!
