Title: What kind of things can I do to customise my Realforce 55g?
Post by: sacyt on Sun, 07 August 2016, 12:21:41
I want to customise it a bit. I know that Topre boards aren't really meant to be customised, as such, but I just want to make it a bit more unique than the stock keyboard. I'm not looking to completely change the keyboard, I just want to know what kind of things can be customised, if any.

Lets not talk about how expensive all of these are.

The quickest and possibly the most colorful would be artisan keycaps. Be warned, though, your first artisan keycap is a gateway drug.

@sacyt: I would echo the list posted by xondat.

The easiest modification is of course the keycaps. There are some excellent Topre sets in various colors for sale by "widebasket" on eBay. These can be mixed with each other and/or with the stock caps.

Another thing you can do is install silencing rings and lube the switch rails and stabilizers.

Regarding the cable, there is a post on GH showing how to install a flush-mount USB connector. You can also get replacement cables from Pexon in the UK as well as a dongle cable for an easy way to have a semblance of a detachable cable.

I've tried a flush mount USB mod. Unless you cut out parts of your case, a lot of cables don't fit. The best option would be pexons aviator style cable or getting a custom cable that is long enough to go through the routing channels and terminates in mini USB female.
