Title: Hair Wax/Pomade
Post by: kenmai9 on Thu, 11 August 2016, 19:14:11: anyone got slickback/undercut hairstyle and can recommend good wax? i currently use gatsby pink along with american crew (can't remember which one, but it has elvis on the cover lol) one but want to try something else. i got asian hair so its super thick and i need a strong hold one

Please advise.

I have recently gotten into getting my mane big with a Hollywood-looking coif upfront and feathering on the sides and have discovered hair powder. Hair powder is ****ing amazing when paired with a light fiber, it's magic in a bottle.

Re: powder, that sounds cool. i hate when the part in the front looks flat. my hair is really heavy so its hard to get the exact look i want

Not really sure how the stronger holds will work with your hair type; my hair is relatively fine and I find that a light/medium works well for me. I am also a fan of Brylcreem (preferably the UK version), but I know that would be too light for you as that doesn't even really hold my hair in place (it's more of a dressing than a pomade).

I've found that the petrolatum-based pomades are more to my liking - nice hold and good shine - but they don't wash out as easily. After a couple days of buildup, I throw in either the Brylcreem or some Groom & Clean for a day or two and it helps degrease.

A heavy-weight pomade maybe compounding the problem - depending on the brand, maybe try switching to a medium or mixing a medium and heavy.

They will not keep to wind, especially given how heavy and Dense Sifo Hair is.

All Outdoor operations require Hair spray.. NOT flexihold, the Hard stuff..

It will still look natural and textured as long as you spray from a longer distance, and deposit thin layers upon thin layers. (wastes alot of product, but it's the only way)..

Strongest hold on budget for spray is the G2B freeze spray.. really cheap, really strong.

HOWEVER, this is mostly Wrong, Certain areas of hair require more or less because hair grows at different angles relative to the force of gravity.. Keep that in consideration when you shape your hair.

All of those Stylish videos you see on Youtube with the jap stylists applying their wax.. EVERY SINGLE one of those guys have had their hair permed for shape beforehand..

You can tell by the way their hair will keep to odd angles easily, which natural straight hair WILL NOT DO..

Get the separate components.. Tp4 uses the Pantene Curl Perfection conditioner, works well for Thick Sifo-Hair.. They used to have this medium-thick formula, which worked similarly,maybe even a little better, but they no longer sell it..

All of Pantene's shampoo with the exception of Volumizing works about the same in terms of final outcome of Styling..

Rinse thoroughly..

Squeegee as much water out of hair as possible..

Now use 2 Table spoons of conditioner.. thoroughly coat hair..

LEAVE IN..

Wash the rest of your body..

Rinse hair of conditioner as Final step..

Try Hair spray..

Tilt head horizontally,, fluff it , and spray.

No way, hairspray is gross! Like I said I like to keep my hair airy and fluffy like a coiffed lion's mane, but still have it hold it's shape throughout the day which is a bit of a conundrum but I've finally found a balance after years.

Dry upside down with a blow dryer (air dry if there is time) then use a fiber wax as a base for rigidity. After that dries I brush out the excess wax with a fine round-brush and form the shape, them I layer in the hair powder and comb it out untill soft. Then I use a styling comb to get the front lift and side-feathering. Takes like 20 minutes every morning :))

I do my hair while it's damp. No time to blow dry. I do first the American crew to shape it, then use the Gatsby wax to fortify it. Then comb to my liking. It worked pretty well today. Im always experimenting.

I'll let you know how the new product works next week.

If you don't want to get a perm.

You will at least need to get the long parts thinned out via thinning shears.

You've got the normal thick heavy Sifo-Hair.. Without thinning.. it's hard to get texture.. And the hair generally carries too much momentum while in motion, for wax..

Wax may work if you're just sitting there, but bob your head any place, it'll come apart fast.

That could be a Choice for the outcome of the perm.

But the main reason, is that it weakens the hair fiber some what, so you can style it more easily.. more texture and volume

The secondary reason, would be to add certain directionality for easier management into the style you want.

____ For example, if your hair pulls to the left, but the style you want goes to the right, or straight up, or up and back, a Perm can make a hard shift in the direction of the hair to get into that shape.

We really got to thank the guys who made the 2-block cut style popular.

IMHO, it's the most efficient mens' hairstyle..

Tp4 overheats all the time when using the Internet.. Short sides significantly aid in heat dissipation..

so i got this stuff over the weekend. i did my hair really fast this morning because i was late, so i didnt really try hard on it.

this is 7 hours into the day, with wind outside rekking me, but still looks p good imo

also the back little hair thing is a problem, idk how to fix it. told my dood to cut it shorter but it still doesn't behave.
