Title: Verifying the authenticity of Gateron (black) switches on a board...
Post by: Row009 on Fri, 19 August 2016, 05:48:53
Hi,

I just placed an order for a generic board with Gateron black switches from china;
However I would like to make sure the switches are indeed Gateron's originals.
There is a at least one store that I know of that sells only tops of Gateron switches (https://zealpc.net/products/gateron (https://zealpc.net/products/gateron)) - which can imply companies may place Gateron tops on other types of switches.
Do you think Gateron switches are often counterfeited?
How can I be sure they are genuine?

Looking at the price you can get Gateron switches at I don't think it would even remotely be worth it to use other switches and put Gateron tops on them.

I've never heard of fake Gaterons before, I'm pretty sure you're safe.

Maybe he got the cherry blacks that were swapped out for those "cherry" yellows. Lol
