Title: Corsair Strafe RGB MX Silent Gamer
Post by: smarmar on Fri, 19 August 2016, 09:38:29
Anyone here have experience with the Corsair - Strafe RGB MX Silent Gaming Keyboard? It's on sale at Best Buy (85 bucks) and I can't find any worthy comparison reviews in order to make an informed buyer's decision. I own a Tesoro Durandal with MX browns and I love the feel and sound. I'm hesitant to take the plunge on a kb sight unseen.

somebody posted one in the keyboards and keycap photography thread in the media section. he said the switches felt smoother than his vintage blacks iirc which is pretty impressive

I could try one about two months ago, for about a couple of minutes... Yes, not much, but it felt really good. I can't compare it with anything, because that's the only linear switch I've tried, sorry. But I can tell you it was very smooth and really silent. I prefer clicky switches, but after trying that keyboard I'm thinking to give some linears a try.

About the keyboard, it wasn't connected to a computer, so I can't tell you about the LEDs. But I felt it was a good keyboard, it had a good weight, it was nicely built, and even I'm not a fan of gaming keyboards, I liked it.

I'm glad to see a modern day Cherry that's actually smooth, if IIRC someone opened one up and there was some lubricant but hey it's better then scratchy.

I like the aesthetics of these Corsair boards but why do they refuse to make a standard bottom row? I also don't think they're that great value.

Thanks, folks!
So, I'm hearing key words like "smooth, quiet, linear, good weight"...that's a positive start. :thumb:
