Title: After Meal Coffee
Post by: tp4tissue on Tue, 30 August 2016, 14:49:47
Ok..  So we naturally gets sleepy after a meal, because the blood supply is diverted, the body creates melatonin, ontop of the insulin response to control one's blood sugar level.

Now,  Often times, many'o'us drink a cup of coffee to offset this natural onset of drowsiness..

Is that BAD for one's health ?

I often fall into a food coma after lunch so something caffeinated always helps, whether it's coffee or diet Coke (preferably the latter).

Here in Spain we have the siesta. Here is a link to the Wikipedia article on siesta (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siesta), with a (short) section on cardiovascular benefits. Not conclusive, I guess it depends on your day's pace.

I don't think many people actually takes a nap on weekdays, but I do on weekends when possible.

Btw if you're worried, you should read something about coffee. And about tea and caffeine too: not all caffeine drinks are the same.

Have a calypso. It's a coffee with a shot of Kahlua. It's served in one of those coffee liqueur glasses with a layer of cool, slightly-frothed cream on the top, floated on the back of a teaspoon. It wasn't an Indian meal at the local restaurant without at least 2 of those after our thali.

Not sure about anyone else but I drink coffee all day anyway. Don't think I've experienced this tiredness after lunch...
