I find this hard to believe...
Seriously?!
-
And they sold it for cheap here in Europe. You could get a brand new one for 150 Euro, wich is the same price as a Ducky Board with Cherry-MX. Filco would be more expensive.
I guess they should have made the Keycaps better and the Sound more pleasant :p
-
Is there any proof that the new RF RGB has cherry stems?
They've at least cleaned up the design and made it more minimalist with a detachable cable. But with Cherry Stems then I think it'd be GG for CM Novatouch anyway.
-
At around 1:11 they remove a keycap revealing a cherry stem... holy mother of god
-
Well, if you're in the USA, you can still get (barebones) one at a decent price.

I don't like that. Cherry stems mean slightly more wobble and they also mean that the stock keycaps will be crap. You will be expencted to go after market, if you want decent quality.
The problem is, that in germany they will only be selling ISO-DE Layout (as they did with Novatouch), wich essentially means that you will not get after market keycaps. They will not sell many of these keyboard in EU.

Without silencing, it's a ****ty keyboard.
-
I doubt anyone would miss it if they just released the stems.

Topre won't allow them.

I saw this coming quite a while ago, when folks were still hoping CM would release the NovaTouch in other sizes. It was obvious to me, for a number of reasons, that the NovaTouch was becoming a discontinued product.
I look forward to the RealForce MX with great anticipation. Keycaps may feel a bit "wobbly" compared to Topre mount, but at least I'll be able to put my beloved SA sets onto Topre switches in a full-size board finally.

Why are they more wobbly? Tolerances gone wrong?

I believe it's because it was never very highly produced so it just has much more room to improve. The mould for the Topre + MX keycap is probably the most complicated mould for any keycap stem so far.
I'm wondering if RF will be replacing their sliders entirely moving forward or will this be a different switch for lower end boards. I'm not sure if I should wait on my HHKB or not =\
-
It's a shame, but it looks like Realforce will pick up the slack, but likely at a muuuuuuuch higher price.
-
I would have gladly helped keep the NovaTouch in production by buying a few boards if only CM had bothered to make a 104/108 key model, and not just the useless (to me) TKL.

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a new novatouch for $95 from an online retailer... That should have told me something...

The bottom row is also non-standard. I had trouble finding PBTs for a Corsair with a non-standard bottom row. How will we find nice keycaps for this new RF RGB

Hmm, really? I guess that must be only on the European version, because on my ANSI one it has a standard bottom row.

on a RF RGB? I was just going by that video. But I actually see screenshots elsewhere that show it with standard. :o
