Title: Was given 2 Free model M terminal boards - Need help identifying one
Post by: DALExSNAIL on Fri, 09 September 2016, 07:39:36
Was given these 2 at work today, my first buckling spring boards!  :thumb: Luckily they look to be in like new condition, they were wrapped in new/old bubble wrap, and the cable on the bigger one looks to have never been used.

But I was having trouble identifying the first one. The sticker covering the original has a model number but it doesn't seem to be correct when looking. I can find a lot of similar boards but nothing quite close enough. Any help fam? It's probably something well known that i'm not keen enough to locate haha.

Also they have rj45 connectors, since they were old terminal keyboards so I'm not even sure they're usable.

Not cheap but these work great, and can be programmed to make use of all those extra keys.

Model numbers are kind of irrelevant, sometimes they just refer to a different set of key caps.

As you know but others may not,  orihalcon sells them here too, and you get a better deal.

Thanks for that, I thought I'd be doing some soldering to get these working!

So I'm guessing these are some run of the mill models then  :p

Sorry, of course I should have pointed you to Orihalcon's listing here.

Terminal Model Ms are not considered particularly desirable, except perhaps ones with APL key caps.
The older one with the metal badge is the one that most people would prefer. The over-sticker is probably from service.

Getting new ones was a coup, and 2 complete sets of straight "F" function keys is another big plus.

Awesome! Can't beat free for sure, and now I can trade for bucking spring artisans
