HOLY COW!!!
Today has been an amazingly happy day, and no one IRL understands, so I have to share here...
I was visiting my parents house (~7 hours away) and was rummaging through an area of my dad's shop that used to be "my corner". It's been nearly 20 years since I've done so. I literally lost my breath when I saw this box...
[attachimg=2]
I tell myself, SURELY that's not what it says on the box. But then I noticed the shipping label said it was actually shipped to me! I ORDERED IT IT LONG AGO!
[attachimg=3]
But I open it up, and holy cow... it's an unused '91 SSK!
[attachimg=5][attachimg=4]
Now, I have no recollection of ordering such a thing. But it's not surprising that I would have... the SSK was what our computer labs had in middle school. I've always been fascinated with it. The best I can guess is that when it arrived, it had no cable, and I had no clue what that port was on the back. I likely threw it in the shop and forgot about it.
I'd guess I ordered it somewhere between ~1993-1996... the tracking numbers obviously don't work anymore.
As it turns out, I did by a SSK from @mkawa a few years back (a '92), but its forever a Smallfry remembrance board.

It's nice to have another one, and one with a ~20+ year-in-the-works history.
;D ;D ;D ;D
Clack on my fellow obsessionists...

haha dude that is awesome! I would have shat myself as well if I found that. That's super cool that you used SSKs in elementary school, I was definitely born in the wrong decade... I used ****ty rubber dome Dell keyboards through my entire education.
Congrats on the new(?) addition to your collection!

That's what I call a "barn find"! Enjoy!

Forever hunting for my birthday SSK; 07-14-95. The closest I've come was finding a 07-21-95. Great find! Hope to own my own SSK one day :thumb:

Your past self is very thoughtful to leave you such a nice gift.

Oh dang, that's the other possibility. I have already discovered time travel in the future.

Nice find!

Absolutely incredible. If only we all could have ordered cool stuff for ourselves back in the day!
-
That is an awesome find! I am kinda jealous as I am still looking to get a hold of a BS board.
-
Congratulations :)
I wish I'd left myself a new SSK or any reasonable mechanical keyboard, but my old self was a bit of an idiot and threw them all out.
-
Aww man I've been looking for something like this! I mean the date of creation is just 2 days away from my birthday. Nice find!

my old self was a bit of an idiot
Clearly, you are the only person on the planet like that.

Throughout my early years in primary school and through high school here in Convict Town, never even seen a Computer let alone used one.
You still have neglected parts of the world completely isolated and where I live, it's one of those places. Strange thing it's still like that, except now I can buy anything and import it to my front door.

Yeah, I'd be an idiot to think that :))
Oh, wait ...

I am not that old and I barely used a computer at school. It was more of a novelty than anything. Pretty much the only memorable thing was someone changing the background of the book cellar computers to "brock loves ****".
