Title: Customizer Spring
Post by: patrickgeekhack on Sat, 16 January 2010, 21:09:47
While pulling the keys on my CUstomizer to apply some silicone grease, the spring of the backspace key came off. I'm having a hard time to put it back so that the key will fire. Can anyone point me to how I should proceed to put the spring back?

That happened to me once, except it was much worse. The spring came off and then got between the membrane and the black plastic part with all the key barrels. I had to break a few rivets to get it out and got the key to work. The key doesn't sound right anymore though (probably because of the rivet).

I managed to fix the problem about ten minutes after I posted the thread. That being said, while the grease trick does muffle the noise, I think it also changes the feel for the worse. That is just my opinion though. The very sharp change in resistance is just not there anymore. I will probably pull all the keys and spring and remove all the grease when I have some time. The good thing is that keyboard is not my daily driver.
