Mine is a Ducky Legend with Mx Red.
Although I'm not using it anymore, should I trade it?
I'm not sure if it's ok to trade :(
-
My hacked up Filco, don't think anyone would want it :))
-
My G710 is on my shelf; I use it occasionally but I'll probably give it to a friend sometime soon

My chicony kb-5181 is lying in a box, all disassembled. I trashed the case and gave away a few of the switches. I still have the plate and pcb.

Assuming "mechanical" means "with metal springs"…
Cherry G81-3000HAU was cleaned, modded and resold as parts (doubleshot keycaps, case, cable and LED sticker all went to different people; someone got the modded switches too).
Silitek SK-0002 (or similar, I can't remember the exact model number) is cleaned somewhere in a box… I never liked Alps SKCM White to begin with.
Modern keyboards… SteelSeries 6Gv2 was resold as soon as I got something compact, and that was 2012 Noppoo Choc Mini (w/ MX Reds and POM caps)—I still have it (mostly because of sentimental value), but rarely use it, because I prefer fully programmable keyboards.

Good ol' IBM Model M. Have it stored away in the basement somewhere because I needed the room near my desk.
-
Mine was an IBM Model M, which I think the USB adapter died on it (bluecube). At this point it's lost a key cap or two as well.
I didn't pay anything for it, other than the cube, so meh...
I also have a second at this point, but after using light spring Jailhouse Blues for so long, when I tried using it, my fingers did NOT like the stiffer springs. Nor did I like the noise or the size. I do prefer buckling spring though, so at some point my goal is a 68key BS modded for silence. Someday...

Model F AT, sold.

Right where I left it.

My Cooler Master CM Storm Quickfire TK with MX blues?
That got sent to the Mechmarket farm where all old keyboards go to spend the rest of their days. ^-^
-
under my hands - the kbt pure pro! solid piece of hardware. it's cute, it's fun, but it's cherry.
i mean, if this had switches i liked more, this might've been my main in stead of the hhkb. i really like these caps, including the funny font.

My original first has probably been landfill for decades.
My first modern mech is a Ducky Shine 1 that received NPKC keycaps recently, although I'm not using it at the moment.

My pretty modded out Rapoo KX with a black powder-coated bezel, Gateron Clear (originally Kailh Yellow, then MX Red), SIP'd, lubed, stickered, with an MX lock for the Fn key and the R. Shift and App keys swapped around (rewired).
I ended up selling it though, but I was never using it.
I still have my white one with 62g Ergo Clears as a backup. Total sleeper board though. Not as cool as my original.

I don't believe I ever used a mech board before this in my life. I can't remember ever using one in school. I used to think mechanical keyboards were a more recent thing until I dove into this community.
-
My Teensy reincarnated Ducky Zero with ergo clear alphas is on my desk wearing Hack'd and showcasing my orange artisans, it makes a nice change from heavy linears.
-
My first keyboard is the Corsair K70 Cherry MX Browns with the original red LEDs, it is still kicking and still is one of my favorite keyboards with the amount of work that I have done on that thing :P I have it to a sibling, that way I still have visitation rights :'(
-
My first is Razer Blackwidow which I reutrned it after owning it for a week because I don't think I like the macro keys.
I got a Das Keyboard Silent (MX Brown, Costar model) right after which is what I consider as my real first keyboard, that I still use it at work up till this day. My 2nd keyboard is a Filco Ninja (MX Red), which I still use regularly at home too.
Costar products stand the test of time. :thumb:

An "E-Element® Z-88 RGB LED Backlit Water-Proof Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with 81 Keys Anti-Ghost keys, Blue Switches, Black," as described in the Amazon listing, and it's not been shipped yet. XD
I am 100% new to mechanical keyboards and quite worried about my choice. XD I kinda wish I'd have stuck with something more basic, like that Tomoko keyboard.
I am hoping to step up in a few months with something much nicer (and expensive, lol).
-
It was a 6312; that particular one is now with a friend of mine, but I still have many left.
-
Leopold FC750RT with MX brown
-
My very first was an ABS M1. It was really loud and I only bought it because it was the cheapest mech I could find. I believe it has fukkas switches ? I have no idea, that's just what I was told. It wasn't much but it was a lot better than a standard rubber dome keyboard and it was built like a tank. I gave it to a coworker when he left for a better job because he'd always commented about how he enjoyed typing on it. Hopefully I introduced him to liking these keyboards as much as I do. =]

Mine was a Choc mini 84 with MX Brown, I decided to purchase it after reading calavera's review. That's also how I found geekhack.
-
My first mechanical k-board was a pink ISO/Nordic Zowie Celeritas pro with Cherry MX Brown and white keycaps, some years ago.
-
Not exactly what my first was. The first on a PC was a Model M, long before I knew what a mechanical keyboard actually is. No idea what happened with it, we likely sold it or something. If I only consider those keyboards that I bought myself, then I'm typing this on my first mech, an ErgoDox EZ (browns, and DCS blanks), at work.
-
My Razer Blackwidow is sitting on my friends desk. Sold it to him for $50 and haven't looked back since.
-
I lent my Commodore 64 with disk drive to a friend back in '90s and never got it back.
-
My Ducky Shine II is now with my bro-in-law since he wanted a fullsize backlight keyboard for gaming and I fell in love with TKL keyboards.
-
kbparadise v60 mini (cherry mx blues)
got it 6-8 months back and love it
only complaint is i can't reprogram the keys
-
Gave it to a friend, it was a cooler master something.
-
I ****ed it up to learn how to solder :^) it was worth it !
WASD v1 rest in pieces
-
CM QFR with blacks. Still use it regularly nearly 5 years on.
-
Man, y'all seem to be a lot better than I am at keeping your keyboards alive:
My first was a Ducky 1008XM, which died after a few months.
Then my second mech, a MicroConnectors D07-135 died in an attempt to use its parts to fix the Ducky. Admittedly that was a very cheap keyboard and only ever intended as a stopgap, while waiting for my third mech, a Noppoo Tank that I've still got somewhere (though it has a bit of chatter, which gets annoying). Who knows how much longer that D07 would have lasted, though-- I bought another one years later, because I dig simplified black ALPS, and it didn't make it very long before suffering spontaneous complete failure.
If you count Olivetti dome with slider as mechanical, I killed one of those, too, trying to splice its switches into an iRocks dome board I had lying around. That didn't go well for either of them, though I do think that, with tools and skills (I have neither), it could be done.
Fourth or fifth, depending on how you count, was a Model M, which I've only managed to mostly kill. Still around until I manage either to fix it or finish it off in the attempt.
Then fifth or sixth was a Das Ultimate, which dropped dead after a couple of years.
...and so on.

Collecting dust at my friend's house.
I always end up distributing my keyboards to friends and family.. who end up not appreciating them as much as I did. But it's to be expected.
-
K70 and now Whitefox
-
K70 RGB MX Red.
Sold it.
-
A Dell AT101W was the first one that I bought for myself and I gave it to my dad after I swapped in Matias QCs and adding TaiHao double-shots. He's still using it at his job as far as I know, he loves it.
-
First mech board was family-owned and probably tossed by dad at some point in the 90s. First board I owned on my own is an SGI granite that I still have connected to my PC as a backup board. 2nd is an IBM Model M. 3rd is my Ducky with MX reds that I currently use.

This one, IBM M13 with Trackpoint, the black version. I can't live quite well without the Trackpoint, i.e. I don't want to leave my home row and reach for the mouse too often.
I sold it on eBay in 2009 because the buckling springs are too hard for my fingers and it was very tired for me to type on it.
I'm typing on some Gateron black now, it's still possible to do some very light typing without bottoming out on these black switches; with buckling springs, it felt like typing on a mechanical typewriter, not those electrical enhanced ones, and definitely made my fingers fatigue in a few minutes as I didn't weight-train them. It's just a personal preference.
-
Northgate Omnikey Ultra T was my first keyboard. Bought it in the mid-late 90s at a thrift store. It's still part of my keyboard collection. Now using a CM Storm Quickfire Stealth for gaming reasons and because keycaps. Once you go mechanical, you'll never go back xD
-
Had the Razer blackwidow 2011 when Razer was still using original cherry blue switches. I couldn't stand one of the leds not lighting and was getting irritated at the sound of blues. Also can't be arsed to solder on a new led so I gave it to a friend and bought myself a Ducky Premiere with browns which I eventually gave to my partner since I believed she would benefit from as she was writing her thesis at that point. Finally bought a Filco MJ2 TKL with cherry browns for home and more recently a KC60 with gateron browns for carting around but mainly for the office. Been happy with my purchases so far. I have a picture of the keyboards in my posession but it's a potato pic so I won't sully this thread with crappy photos.
-
My first and currently only mechanical keyboard is a Matias Clicky KBP V80. I ordered the LightCycle keycaps for it because I read Alps keycaps are hard to come by. Very clicky. Very tactile. Very loud. I love it.
It is currently in transit from repair service. :\
I can't live quite well without the Trackpoint, i.e. I don't want to leave my home row and reach for the mouse too often.
Do you ever plan to pick up a TEX Yoda? One of the main reasons I even signed up on geekhack was to build the 25+ posts and 2 months of membership to post a WTB thread for one of those. Then I got into artisans...
Some day I will try out Matias Quiet Click, after seeing the Topre comparison video in this thread am even contemplating that now. But not until I score a TEX Yoda. All of my laptops have the classic thinkpad trackpoint. I need (strongly prefer) trackpoints in my life.
-
Mine is a Razer Blackwidow TE, I dislike the Razer Green switches so it's stored in my "keyboard closet". I occasionally use it with my laptop as it's cheap and I don't have to worry about it getting stolen.
I will probably keep it though, as it was my first mechanical keyboard and it has served me well until I got better keyboards.
-
IBM Model M Full size
-
My first mech was a Ducky Shine 3 TKL and it is currently sitting at my co-workers desk. It got sold/traded to him through someone else to get me my first HHKB.
-
One of my first modern mechanical keyboards has MX Reds... and it primarily stays stored away, but within reach, so I can remind myself to never buy anything with MX Reds again. :p
-
cm storm KT with brown used :D
-
Razer BlackWidow Ultimate T1 2012 if it counts as mechanical keyboard :))
Already sold, now its somewhere in South East Asia ;D
-
QFR with my most hated switch, browns.
Sold it to a bud for his son though.
