I can't get enough of Flying Lotus's "Never Catch Me" featuring Kendrick Lamar. Not only is the song phenomenal but the video, directed by Hiro Murai, takes it to the next level. I get choked up from the emotion of the visuals superimposed over exotic freeform-jazz beats. :thumb:

Literally the best music video I've ever seen: Carpenter Brut - Turbo Killer

It checks all the boxes - nice cars, beautiful women, good music, all put together in a dark, retrofuturistic style.

Not recent for me, but I adore this music video. Never fails to pick up my spirits, so I do watch it often enough when I'm down.

How am I just now hearing about Carpenter Brut?? I love the whole Vaporwave electro-synth revival going on these days. That video literally made my eyes moisten.
I checked out their other song "Le Perv"...wow! I swear that video could have been made in 1984!

That definitely took some time to make! I prefer music videos to either a)have a story, or b)be musically abstract (like this one). I'm not too keen on videos featuring the band playing or walking around darkened city streets in the fog lip-syncing to their lyrics (okay, maybe I do a little bit) but I'd rather watch the former.
I'm in the laser light show business so I can really appreciate when images complement the music (a la Disney's Fantasia). The most perfect example of this (for me) is Autechre's "Gantz Graf":
