Title: Secret Santa?
Post by: Fictiouz on Tue, 18 October 2016, 07:54:04
Do you guys think there will a Secret Santa this winter? Who do you think will organize it?

This will be my first time actually doing it and I'm really excited. :)

Also, sorry if this is just a guaranteed thing that happens every year and I'm just impatient seeing that DT is getting a jump start on it. :p

Im anticipating it too, I wont be joining the DT SS because international shipping is a pain in the ass. This will also be my first time.

You don't have to ship internationally on DT.  That's clearly spelled out.

Summer santa and Secret santa are both hosted in the same thread, and receive a title change when needed.

I think Nubbinator has ran it for a while, but I might be wrong.

Nubbs also said he was going to be done with the whole thing pretty soon due to people being janky during the event.

Isn't it too early?

Nevermind, I just looked at the date. Since when has it been October?

I've been very on the fence on if I'm going to run it this Christmas.  I'll probably get something up this weekend.  I'm debating having people put a small deposit down that you get back after you deliver your gift and post pictures, just to try and dissuade freeloaders a little.  I'm just annoyed with the whole thing because with what I've spent out of pocket making up for slackers would have bought me a nice keyboard kit or aftermarket Clack or two.

If you don't feel it, let someone else step up.  Don't feel like you have to do it.  If no one steps up... then we don't have it.  It's that simple.

There's also a Secret Santa on Deskthority and Reddit /r/MK.  So there are other options if people want to participate.  Just sayin'...  :p

I think the deposit is a great idea.  Monetary incentive goes a long way for most people and if they want to flake, helps cover the one missing out.  As always, you can count me in buddy, and once again, I am willing to help out in any way possible.

Maybe you can post the thread here with some alterations, and get a larger pool.

First time was awesome. I'd be down to participate once again and help out if need be!
