Logo will be repositioned

Hello peeps, it has been more than a year since Jane CE. Many things happened during this period of time. ivan went missing, juahenza rised as the pride of Asia, Trump became POTUS, still no re-run of digilog (maybe I should try that someday). All these aside, I hope you guys are well.

About TGR 65% aka 910
65% is probably the best layout, be it for Overwatcher or casual type. There was a period of time when I used only the HHKB. LZ-SQ is the one that pulled me back from the dark side. TGR-910 is designed to provide the best typing feeling in a compact layout, while maintaining a effective number of keys. The design (?) is highly influenced from the older Korean customs.

Design
Unlike latest trends in keyboard hobby, there is nothing fancy or loud in the TGR design. The classy design concept is continued from the Jane. I had thought about adopting the "top casing over the bottom of the case" feature which can easily resolve the issue about top-bottom gap, sharp edges, and uneven anodizing issue; but that seemed to make the board look less elegant. In my opinion, the old way is the best way.

Supported layouts:

Material
Alcoa Mic 6 or Kobelco 5052

Reason behind the new material is consistency in quality of the aluminium and to avoid impurities.

In order to minimize the gap between the top and bottom parts, the edges have to be sharp. Strong sandblasting will introduce a small radius to the edges and make the gap obvious. I will be using a milder sandblasting with chemical etching technique to minimise the case gap. This technique requires extra effort for perfect machining/handling and prevention of oxidation during pre-anodising process etc.

The finishing that I am trying to achieve for the TGR-910 will be a lot like Lynn's older boards (ie Dolphin, Whale, and EM7). The quality of the finishing depends a lot of the quality of the raw material, this new material will be the best for the kind of finishing that satisfy my strict requirement.

PCB
I have gotten the permission from Winkeyless' Hojin to design my own PCB with their firmware and GUI. With the help of Leeku and Quadcube, a PCB was specially designed for 910.

Color
- Black, silver and grey
- Pink or Cyan (?)

Price
300$ to 350$

Potato

- There's a small piece of diffuser underneath the logo. Had it tested, I am still not blind.

- Will use a less thick diffuser (1.5mm perhaps)

- The board looks so much more classy without the side diffuser

Guys, regarding the layout. My LZ SQ has a split spacebar, I've been using 1.25x as spacebar for awhile (better feeling don't have the worry about the stab tuning)
Definitely more dope than conventional 6.25 or 7x and will be offered in 910.

I will update more tmr, supported layout and all. GON Mobik just arrived today and I want to build it.  :p

Damn, I love that. I love that 65% life and seeing all these awesome 65% boards coming out now makes me a very happy camper.

I'd love to pick up one of these and feel the TGR quality for myself.

Yes to blocker. I could go either, but I'd prefer cyan. Though I love that purple for the prototype even more.

I like the blocker, gives a more unique look.
Out of the two I'd say cyan.

I'm a big fan of the diffuser and both blockers, though I would be fine with or without the top right one.  Blocker between arrows and modifiers is a favorite for me, helps to find the arrows that much easier.

Will there be options to purchase additional pieces to either swap plate/pcb or use a diffuser/not?

Glad to see this is finally moving forward, been looking forward to this for a while.

For me the top right corner block kinda ruins the design, probably enough for me to skip this so the option to remove it would be very welcomed. I love the bottom row block though, it can accomodate a few other cool layouts like 1.25 1.25 1.25 6.25 1.25 1.25 and 1.5 1 1.5 6 1.5 1.5, if the plate fits them. TGR logo placement seems a bit off, maybe its too low, not exactly sure.

I love everything about the board, it's so beautiful. I wouldn't change a thing, the blockers and the 910 logo really make the board stand out comparing it to every other boring 65% layout.

I would also definitely not switch the TGR logo with the 910, it's much more elegant this way with simple numbers that have the awesome diffused lighting. Also a thinner side diffuser would be most welcome as an option to add (are you able to simply remove and add the diffuser easily) and I would surely pick one up as well.

If the color shown in the pictures is in fact the pink color, then I choose that one, it goes so well with the Skeletor set and I happen to have one laying around. The consensus seems to be that the cyan color is more favorable option. I love the color in the pictures but even better would be to have the option to choose between the colors. Why not both?

Love this!

Would really be into an option with no diffuser.. I agree. This board screams premium and a RGB defuser just takes away and gives it that trendy aesthetic.

I would also like to see a way to put the 910 in there without the lighting. Think the placement might be a bit strange.. Etched would just as nice like the TGR logo on all the other stuff.

Yeee thank you. You are right the "910" could still light up without the side diffuser.

It goes really well the with GMK Skeletor's purple.
It was a violet/purple color case. I agree the black purple combination does go really well with the skeletor.  :thumb:

Yes, there will be options to purchase additional parts along with the board. Extra pcb/plate is for sure. Maybe lubes and stabs too. Weeee

Yeah I am will working on the final quantity to be produce. Most likely around 22 or 24 units for the GB. Then another 10 units for friends. Hmmm

The one if the photo is actually purple/violet. There's an MOQ of these unique colors. I hope with Tris running together, I will be able to offer both, or even violet.

Will the slots be raffled or FCFS'd? I was pretty 50:50 between this and jchan's board, but the split spacebar just made this like 300 times more interesting.

It *almost* doesn't matter since getting to it first will be hard (without a sale date) and having sales raffled means I'll never win :(

I like it, is it possible to have an option to have a switch at the top right area with it says 910?
I've tried removable blocker for that area. Solid removable blocker is easy, but it seems difficult to have produce a diffusable & removable blocker.   :blank:

Will there be a limited number made?
Yeah I am will working on the final quantity to be produce. Most likely around 22 or 24 units for the GB. Then another 10 units for friends. Hmmm

Will the slots be raffled or FCFS'd? I was pretty 50:50 between this and jchan's board, but the split spacebar just made this like 300 times more interesting.
Depending on how you press your spacebar. I just only my right thumb and with the 2.75x 1.25x 2.25x layout, I press only 1.25x for space. Not having to press a stabilizers key for space is a blessing.

More than 50% of my boards have badly tuned spacebar. The rattling just turned me off.

This really opens up my thinking (about hitting the stabilized keys) .. I also hated the annoying sound those stabilizers makes when i barely touch them. If i may ask how do you properly tune them? Is it by thick lube from krytox and such?

Nowadays I just use krytox 205 to lube the stabs. Usually I just make sure that the wire is flat and clip the legs.
I got all my stabs from Kin-25, cheap and good  :thumb:

Maybe you could up the number to 40 + 10 so you can have a greater variety in the anodization?

40 is too much. I've decided on the number 23. There will be 20 units of Tris too (to match Jane R1).
Once Tris' prototype is ready and tested, mostly likely I will be doing both together.

Hopefully the second option, I really didn't like it how most of the X60 GB was run in xondat's IC and would really hope that this does not happen regularly.

EDIT: Just wondering, I rarely see plates with switch top removal capability in custom boards, why is that? it seems like a neat feature to have.

Yeah bb. Just turn on the notification for this thready will do, don't need 24/7.
I will post a new thread (like I always did) at the group buy section, will post an update here once it is submitted.

Because I hate it. If you are soldering the led directly to the PCB, the top removable plate serves no purpose. If you using sip socket or if you are don't use any switch LED, the switch top/stem will be pulled out along with the cap.
It's just annoying and I hate it. Sorry bb, I don't like switch top removable plate.

Thank you for the kind words. Chicken soup is already in the making (even the real deal and not just some instant bags, thanks to my granny), and I've been sipping water and tea almost non-stop today  :thumb: . I'll be alright, it's not the first cold I ever caught and it will definitely not be the last one.
I don't know if I interpreted that wrong (probably did, brain's not on 100% right now), but please don't postpone anything because of me, that would be unfair for other people. I'll get around. And if I end up being too late for one of these, though it would be a bummer, it's not the end of the world.  :thumb:

- There's a small piece of diffuser underneath the logo. Had it tested, I am still not blind.

- Will use a less thick diffuser (1.5mm perhaps)

- The board looks so much more classy without the side diffuser
