Title: Hello from a soon to be Ergodox owner
Post by: skipperwarlock on Thu, 17 November 2016, 21:04:27
Hey guys!

I'm a software developer who has recently become interested in mechanical keyboards. I've been using a microsoft nat 4000 for about 4 years and really love the ergonomic design. However, I purchased a razer blackwidow stealth for home use and I loved the mech keys so much I decided to look for ergonomic work options.

I followed the Ultimate Hacking Keyboard for about 5 months because it seemed like one of the better options based on what I needed, until I came across the ergodox and saw the fantastic reviews it had from it's owners. After doing a little research, I ended up jumping on the recent massdrop for an infinity with blank dsa caps and cherry clear switches.

Unfortunately, the massdrop doesn't arrive until mid Feb of 2017, and I'm itching to order a used original or infinity so I can have one at home and start getting accustomed to the new key configurations. I've looked at the EZ, but the price after shipping is just too much to pay for original ergodox internals, at least for my taste.

So I'm looking for suggestions and opinions. Does anyone have experience using cherry clears and would they be too loud for a work environment? Will I need o-rings? Also, is there a big difference in the behavior and configuration of the infinity vs original, so much that I would be better off to get two infinities?

Thanks guys!

I definitively suggest getting used to a ergodox before taking it to work. I borrowed one from a friend and it was a disaster for me when I was trying to code.

Edit: Welcome though!!
