New PSU arrived today but that did not reincarnate my computer so motherboard, CPU and RAM are on the list for tonight.
Really not impressed with needing a Z motherboard for even a mild overclock, seriously tempted with a low end i5 on a cheap one instead but that would mean spending money for a performance drop. Or spend loads for a slight improvement if I'm reading correctly :confused:

from 4xxx to 6xxx wouldn't be worth it.. you'd go for 7xxx
from 2xxx and 3xxx to 6xxx is worth it..

Worth it if you need it but I don't game so lots of fairly fast threads (2600k) was great - I'd have waited for 8xxx given the choice.

True that. I was looking at component prices and comparing against what they cost at the start of summer.
I could get a i5 6600K for cheaper now on Black Friday at two competing franchises, but other items cost the same or more than they did.

Only things that caught my eye were NHL 17, steam link and steam controller. Grabbed all of that for under $70, so I'm happy, and I didn't have to step foot in a single store.

I think pretty much everyone is looking at the $99 750gb crucial mx300..
The issue is, the mx300 isn't a very good ssd.. hrmmmmm..

Well, I really tried to find something in all BF deals that I NEED but there really isn't such a thing. I already have everything I've ever wished for - a smartphone, laptop, some good headphones, backpack, bicycle and other stuff. I've thought about Black Friday recently and understood that - of course, it's cool to get new **** with lower prices but then again - why spend money when you're happy with everything you have already? Thinking about trying and going minimalist next year. Not like throwing everything I own out and just living with one pair of pants but just thinking about what I really NEED. I've accumulated enough stuff for comfortable living and a lot of things I can just ask from family/friends when I need to use something like once a year.
DON'T GET HOOKED ON MATERIALISM. BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE AND BUY STUFF THAT REALLY WILL BE USED AND OF MEANING.
P.S. It's just my opinion and thought I'd share my recent contemplations

well it depends on if you're overclocking the 2600k.. Fully Overclocked @ 4.7-4.8ghz the 2600k will be faster than the 5775C (3.7ghz max turbo)

well it depends on if you're overclocking the 2600k.. Fully Overclocked @ 4.7-4.8ghz the 2600k will be faster than the 5775C (3.7ghz max turbo)
2600k was at 4.3, the 5775C is also unlocked so would be similarly overclocked (max at stock volts - I aim for silence)

mmmmm...... if the upgrade is going to cost you ANOTHER motherboard ontop of that CPU, then it's kind of still not worth the price..
You would buy the 6700k instead..

Meh, got a toothbrush that wasn't even a BF sale, just a regular week sale. Still, 30€ for an electric toothbrush and a 4 pack of brushes works for me.

TV's seemed cheap, but I was not up on the prices. I missed a sweet laptop deal. slowly becoming less salty about it...
well the $800 is still quite a premium on the x1 carbon.
Because for example they sell larger laptops with 6700hq with nvidia 960 for the same price
Which is more than 5x as fast as that carbon.

There was a really good 40" SONY TV for $150. I honestly don't even need a TV but that was a bargain and almost picked it up. Luckily it went OOS before I got it into the cart.
