Hello.
I'm going for a one week trip to New york on February and i will probably buy my first mechanical keyboard from over there. Does anyone have any suggestions where i should go and look for some?

The good stuff is in Japan not New York. Most (US) stores don't really carry quality keyboards oh you may find a Cherry black gaming board every now and then but that is about it and you really don't want to type all day on a Cherry black board. To get a good board about the only choice is to purchase over the net.
OH welcome to GeekHack

I live in New York, and J&R has the Das Keyboard (NOT on display, unfortunately), but that's about it. No other retailers I know of have mechanical keyboards.

Try thrift stores. You can get the feel of the REAL New York and you might find some good used 'boards.

Pretty much, well unless you're looking for a Buckling Spring board.

Ditto on what everyone else said, except for the Optimus Maximus on the second floor at RCS Experience, but why would you want to play with Cherry ML switches?
