Post by: hgoel89 on Wed, 28 December 2016, 12:23:21
I need to know the thickness of the mounting plate for a PLANNED tkl build.

PCB is phantom
Plate material is stainless steel
Switch is brown gateron

1.5mm is the 'standard' thickness.

1.5mm is the standard as it allows the switches to clip into the plates.

The specs from Cherry are 1.5mm plus or minus 0.1 mm (1.4mm - 1.6mm). I'd expect Gateron switches to match that.

Or .06" +/- 0.004" (1/16 inch).

Click the Dimensions tab here: http://cherryamericas.com/product/mx-series/ and scroll down.

I usually stick with 1.5mm or 1/16" with my designs. You can go thicker (for example, if you're using like 3mm acrylic for your plate) but you'll have to glue the switches in.
