Title: Filco Zero question
Post by: pfink on Fri, 29 January 2010, 18:47:55
Is it possible to tell if a Filco Zero keyboard has Fukka or XM switches without popping off a keycap? For example, do Zeros with serial numbers less than xxxxx have XM switches and those greater have Fukkas?

Thanks.

If they were manufactured before a certain point last year, then they are XMs for sure. When they switched to Fukkas, the part number of the XM ones gained a '-Y' suffix. However, it does not say this on the box, and I'm not sure if the labels have them either as they are supposedly just b-grade stock keyboards sold at a lower price.

No, there is no reliabile way to tell the difference other than popping off the key caps and comparing what you see with the detailed pics of each switch type that have been posted here.

My Filco Zero is marked ALPS FKB108Z/JB-AB (W EB064),
it has black sliders. Any ideas of which variant this is?
