Title: Where to begin finding (buying) keyboards such as OTD or Dolphin boards?
Post by: _BMW_M3_ on Sat, 14 January 2017, 09:16:27
I'm assuming posting on Kbdlab/GH is probably my best bet. Are there any other places/people I should talk to?

Make friends.

Honestly this is the best advice you can give to someone looking to get into customs.  Occasionally you will see one sold publicly, but they are usually heavily inflated.  Not saying that ones in private are not, but you will have an easier time at getting one.

Good luck OP.

at this point, you have to find people who are quitting, or just in the mood to sell.

Make friends.

Looking for friends...  :D

Thanks man! I've got several Korean boards including a Dolphin v1, but I was curious if anyone had any tricks. :P

Of the keyboards I've seen online, the Dolphin is unique with the arch in the keyboard case.  I think all of the OTD keyboards look nice, but what differentiates them from more recent custom tenkeyless keyboards?

Also, do not make friends for the purpose of finding customs.

My advice is to not actively look for customs other than having an open WTB thread. Just wait for one to come your way - if you do it this way the price will often be better, and you will form more natural relationships with members than if you were outright talking to them for the purpose of finding one.

Keep an eye out. There are lot's of other non english places where they are sold. But those are expensive (very)

I'll definitely have a WTB thread incoming. I'm prepared for it to be there forever. Haha

Being fresh out of college with a pretty decent job and no bills/responsibilities helps too. :P

What do the Dolphin boards even look like? I tried googling but couldn't come up with anything.

I just don't get what the fuss is with these boards. Personally, the 356 logo kills it instantly for me.

the logo is cool. it has hidden meaning that many people don't know about. 3 inner fingers, 5 outer, 6 for the thumb:

{[(56/2) + 42] * 3 /10} + 2 = 23
