Title: Black PBT
Post by: gearsoftheapparatus on Fri, 27 January 2017, 00:37:40
I'm in the market for some black/dark grey PBT keycaps, dye-sub, cherry profile, thick (~1.5mm), grainy texture, and must include a short shift (1.75). Currently, I'm considering:

1) GeekKeys (http://www.geekkeys.com/geekkeys-dark-grey-dyesub-thick-pbt-full-keyset/ (http://www.geekkeys.com/geekkeys-dark-grey-dyesub-thick-pbt-full-keyset/))
2) IMSTO (though they are currently out of stock) (http://imsto.cn/index.php?route=product/product&path=62&product_id=108 (http://imsto.cn/index.php?route=product/product&path=62&product_id=108))

Could anyone speak to the quality of the above two key sets, or would anyone suggest another set not mentioned?
Thanks!

though I can't speak to the quality of those, I would check out the Gateron PBT blanks on mechanicalkeyboards.com if you can handle blanks! Those are ~$45 and they are super high quality, cherry profile and not too expensive. They will also have all the keys you need.

Those are both the same thing IIRC Geekkeys just bought a lot of sets from IMSTO when he ran the GB. IMSTO's dyesub is very high quality, but the base PBT Gateron/EnjoyPBT isn't what I would call grainy(rough/textured), it's one of the smoothest PBT keycap makers. Not sure who makes them but the older Geekkeys sets where thick but much more textured than the above, you could email him if you want less smooth but I'm not sure if they had a short shift.

The only PBT keycaps that I like, with an extremely pleasant texture, are Leopold PBT 1.5mm blanks. I used to find them on ebay, but apparently they're not there anymore. Some people have told me they may be equivalent to the Gateron PBT blank keysets.
