Yeah honestly, the difference between a shredder and tearing that **** up is minimal IF someone has a need to gather your information. The more you shred in one sitting, the harder it is to piece it back together as well as the obvious of saving the effort of tearing up thousands of bits of paper.
Unless your a billionaire or your the head of a drug smuggling ring not many people will have an interest in your papers.
If you are a paranoid ****, your better off getting a crosscut shredder as opposed to standard because you are paranoid about the government or bank fraudsters trying to steal the $20 out of your savings account and you gotta destroy all your juicy information.
Another best practice is to only put your rubbish out the morning it is due to get picked up as opposed to the previous evening.
Alternatively find an office with a document destruction contract and put it in their bin if you can get to it.
OR JUST RIP THAT **** UP LIKE MOST OTHER PEOPLE and then tip sardine juice in the bin
I don't do any of this **** but I have had correct document disposal procedures jammed down my throat at random points in time.

If you conduct serious business then YES get a 2603 SMC Level 6 Cross-Cut Shredder which guarantees absolute secrecy when it comes to destroying any of your documents. Even the NSA won't tackle any paper reformation from any shredder with that level of security shredding.
It's the same type used by Obama and of course Trump within the near future and if it works for them, then it will protect you easily.

Oh yeah and if you only have a few things to get rid of, just get a milo/coffee tin and burn the papers. It's cheaper, much cheaper and easier.
But for you tp, I would be careful as that would involve going outside where the germs are.

oooooo..... what's the science behind 1mm by 5mm.. I can understand manually doing this would be fruitless..
But if they had a super computer..
Maybe the NSA designed that tolerance around what they're capable of decript-ing..
So when you specific structural beams for rollercoasters, you multiply the calculated requirement by 10, 15, or 30..
So the NSA has a super computer, that is capable of decrypting xxxxx.. then they divide by a factor and arrive at 1mm by 5mm..
Hrrrrmmm..........

Don't buy super cheap ones. They overheat, jam and will waste your time. TP4 must be efficient

I have a decent cross cut shredder ... It seems like a reasonable precaution to take when dealing with stuff with account info or whatever on it.
