Title: Cherry MX Super Black or equivalent
Post by: happylacquer on Wed, 08 February 2017, 17:00:30
I want some super stiff switches. I see these super blacks haven't been in production for a couple years. are they still stocked anywhere, if not, what are their closest equivalents?  i have neither the time nor patience for replacing springs in switches so i just wanna buy the ones i want and drop em in on my board.

Greys, both linear and tactile, are really heavy.

Good osaka avatar and I forgot all about greys, I might like to outfit my Advantage with some greys then. hmmm....

Greys are 80g, super blacks are 150g.

Buy some 150g springs, that's the best you'll get.

I feel sorry for your fingers, though.

You can't type on super blacks they are too heavy.

Fine what about thumb modifier keys?
I can deal with 80g for typing i'm sure. the advantage layout makes browns feel lighter than they do to me on a normal style board.

It seems like a bit of a leap to go directly from brown to 150g. Try clears first, if you really want something heavy. Grays are about the same as clears anyways. Check out some zealios if clears don't work out since they make a nice middle ground between default browns and default clears (I'd argue 62g is better than either but that's my opinion). After having gone for 45g topre boards I find that my ergo clears feel lighter then they used to, but I still don't think I'd go straight for stock clears either, maybe 65/67g zealios if I go for another MX board.

Super Blacks or 150g springs are only to be used for nuclear code button, so you don't accidentally start world war 3.

150g will be really heavy for Alphas. Perfect for thumb modifiers though. I have 120g alphas in one of my boards and that is pushing it for alphas.
