Title: Running a RGB Strip (WS2812B) under the space key on a GH60 Satan
Post by: jbssm on Tue, 14 February 2017, 06:40:37
Hi all,

I've seen a fair share of posts about RGB under lighting using a transparent case for the GH60 Satan, but I'm not a big fan of those cases.

With an aluminium case (or a non transparent plastic one), I wonder how can I use the RGB Strip on some other part of the keyboard, namely under the spacebar for instance. Do you think that is doable?

The idea here is to program the RGB strip to give me some feedback on the Satan about the Layer I'm in and perhaps other feedback if possible with QMK.

There's no reason you couldn't do this as long as you can get the strip in there without interference with the switch or stabs. Solder small wires to the connect points on the bottom of the board (I'm assuming they're all ready to go) and bring the wires to the top somehow. If the plate has a slot for a Cherry stab you could probably go through there.

Electrically there's no reason you couldn't do this. It's just a matter of making everything fit and neatly getting the wires to it.
