Title: Things you regret not buying when you had the chance.
Post by: romevi on Mon, 27 February 2017, 22:03:34
Do we have a spot for things we regret not buying when we had the chance?

Held the box a few times in stores. A clerk even implored me to buy it before I missed the chance. Thought it much to expensive at the time.

I missed the chance to visit foo fighters in Stockholm at the time of Dave Grohl breaking his leg on stage, the ticket was offered to me for free by a friend.
If that doesn't count; a second hand Custom Mayones regius 6 burled zebrawood top with ebony fretboard for my mesa rectifier (trade). I got to try it out with an axe fx 2 after my friend bought it for 1000€, they are usually around 5000€.
I will regret both celebrating my brother's birthday instead of going to the concert, and not getting a custom made mayones highly discounted for the rest of my life.
At the time I wanted something very specific woodwise in a guitar, or a stilletto deuce/rectifier combo, and my brother is worth more than anything in the world to me (and so is his happiness) - so regretting isn't the right word to me, rather wishing I could have it all, and no decision would cancel out the opportunity of another reality merging into this one?

Congratulations on making the schrödinger's question of the year!

I missed the chance to visit foo fighters in Stockholm at the time of Dave Grohl breaking his leg on stage, the ticket was offered to me for free by a friend.

The following is easily the biggest regret of my life.

It was the summer of 2007 and tickets for Lollapalooza popped up. There was only one show I really wanted to see--my favorite musicians--but when I saw the price of single-day passes I passed. "That's a lot of money to see just one show," I thought.
The day after, many local radio stations talked about how that one show was easily the best of the whole event. A lot of people on the radio and Facebook even said it was the best show they'd ever seen; even from some who weren't really big fans.
To this day I look back and think, almost every day, how I could've seen Daft Punk live.

Those French robot people sure know how to strum an aero guitar! But I'm sure you used your time and money on something else!

Last time I was in Munich, I fell in utter befuddled love with an Alfred Dobner (http://www.ficx-paris.com/expo/alfred-dobner (http://www.ficx-paris.com/expo/alfred-dobner)) folding Damascus steel pocketknife. I am not even super into knives, and it was about $1,000 so I talked myself off of it pretty easily. Have since regretted it because I think of the knife all the time. It would have been an amazing thing to be able to hand off to my boys when they are older. Wait, I guess boy since there's no way I was buying two of those bad boys... So, which of my two sons? Or why not baby Ruby some day? Hmm... Maybe I'm glad I didn't get it.  :D

Had I known Ben and Jerry's were canceling Oatmeal Cookie Chunk I would have purchased a freezer and filled it with as many as I could find.

Keyboards? I regret not stocking up on Logitech Ultra X / Enermax Aurora Lites.

Definitely regret not buying some Microsoft Trackball Explorers.

Um... Wish I also bought an OG Saab 9-3 when it was available new.

Man, I still want one just for display. I found one as a kid on the street. It was next to my uncle's house and he had no idea where it came from, so I took it.
Didn't last around long. Pretty sure my mom tossed it as she kept mentioning she didn't want a toy found on the street in the house.

should've bought more old video games back in 2005-2007 when prices weren't totally retarded, Blockbuster was closing down and selling stock, and the PS3 and 360 had just come out so people were selling their old stuff.

sigh, now everyone and their comatose grandmother collects retro games. even in just the last 2 years eBay prices on most things have effectively doubled.

I think if there isn't a crash in the next 3 years it'll never happen, it's been climbing since 2009 and since 2015ish things have just gotten absurd

It will happen..

Because Fads are FADS..

There is no functional superiority to Vinyl..   The ONLY reason it's become popular is because of hipster culture.

This is the same as anything that's fashionable..   Enough people wear it..  it's not cool anymore..

I regret not buying records with my friends when the local vinyl shop closed down. I moved away and didn't even know it closed until a few years after. Dude had a decent hip hop section and a lot of off the wall style grungy music. Stop bringing back old memories of listening to records with the fam tp. Such a bad influence  :'(

A 67' Mustang Notchback for only $2500.
It was v8 powered, stick shift, all metal work done (no rust or cancer) and was in primer... I hesitated for a day and he decided not to sell after all.

Passed on buying the bike shop I managed...
I turned it down due to the amount of debt it held, turns out the sale price was to cover the debt and it was basically being given away. Shop closed, everyone lost their jobs and I lost out on a great opportunity.

I am still sitting on some high value skins after a few years now. I remember selling some of the original Katowice 2014 stickers for like $5 each... I still have some attached to valuable skins though.
