Title: Can I save my monitor?
Post by: dantan on Mon, 13 March 2017, 02:21:57
Just took out an old monitor to use, and it looked like this:

[attach=1][attach=2]

This was a very good monitor some years ago. Now that I need it in the office because it fits a narrow space, am very disappointed to find that the screen now looks like this. Something like a diagonal split with two weird on screen designs.

It can actually still be used to do many things including watching movies. Just that there is this ugly overlay. So it is perfectly serviceable, just a bit annoying.

also dantan.

ur behavior and thought logic is very odd

First it was about those cables..  and now, if assuming the monitor is going to be like that forever,  that looks like a $50 monitor..   why even go through a decision process,

you'd just go on the computer and order another one..

This is a different monitor from the one that was supposed to be mounted 10ft away. This one needs to fit in a small space. I prefer not to just shell out more cash if making the static or whatever weird appearance go away is just a simple matter. Also, don't think that everyone's office is equally rich. Big tech firms may buy the latest gadgets all the time, but my office is not budgeting for that.

So if you turn off that monitor,  those marks disappear?

Looks like the electrons are not filling the space equally. Did you try changing the plug or using a different cable?
