Title: Does clipped stabs make your spacebar wobbly?
Post by: ArchDill on Wed, 15 March 2017, 21:49:09
I am one of the community members that has still not built my own keyboard. I buy boards that other people have built. So far, all custom boards I have bought have had something wrong with it. First one had some switches soldered in crooked and the stabs were a bit messed up. 2nd one had some more crooked switches. The 3rd (and current) is ALMOST perfect. All of the switches are straight. However, my space bar tends to stick up and slanted to the right VERY SLIGHTLY. You may not notice unless I pointed it out. The stabs are clipped and lubed and I was wondering if that could play into it at all? It feels a lot more wobbly than any of my other boards. I THINK the stabs are cherry knock offs. I have taken it off and attempted to adjust to no avail.

I was going to attach a picture but you can not see it in the picture.

Thanks!

Never had an issue like that with clipped stabs.

That's the problem. Those knockoff stabilizers are frankly rattling pieces of ****. I replaced mine with Zealio stabs and they are clipped as well. No problems.

Someone I follow on instagram recently made a post about the different kinds of stabilizers you can see here out there https://instagram.com/p/BRqsfmzjAOh/

I personally bought some knockoff ones recently and oh my they are horrible. Wire is too thin so they rattle, stem is too small for the housing so they're all over the place. Depending on your board you might be able to easily swap them out even if you don't have a soldering iron and it might improve the feel of them.

I have 2 boards that i hate the stabs on.. my sentraq and my new smart68. They rattle like crazy and ruin the feel of the board for me. I've clipped them, lubed them, taped them, rubber o-ringed them... still not even close to my ducky or topre or leopold. No idea what the deal is at this point.
