Title: What's the most unique switch you've modified?
Post by: TheNamesTy45 on Sat, 18 March 2017, 22:32:19
As I'm preparing for my upcoming build, I've modified some of my Gateron blacks by putting them in a Zealios housing with the 67g spring, and I really feel like I've found my temporary nirvana. At least until they're all in the board, and I get an itch to try the next thing.

This got me thinking though. There's an ever increasing number of customized switches out there such as Invyr Panda, Zealios, mod switches, etc, but there's also a history of people creating their own custom switches such as ergo clears, jailhouse blues, and more. What are some of the strangest combinations you've created? Which ones did you really love? Which would you never try again? Which gave you the most trouble creating, and why?

Really I guess I'm curious to see what you all have done in your tinkering with just switches. Also, sorry for seeming overly MX switch centric, I just have no experience with any other type of switch, so feel free to add them in as you see fit.

Probably the Mitsumi mod; putting Mitsumi sleeves on BTC foam and foil switches.

Had to Google all of this, but this is exactly what I was hoping to get exposed to! Was this the most difficult, your favorite, or both?

One of my few, if I'm honest :p . Apart from this I've been messing around a bit with Alps and Matias switches, and that's about it xD .

Ha, understood. Also, see you're from the Netherlands, that's where my Oma and mother are from. Opa was from Indonesia. First generation American here on my mother's side.

I made a ~700g Cherry MX Black using a pen spring I found in an old stationary drawer.

I plan to put it an ESC key on a future build and grow my finger biceps.

Assembling:

Built and placed in a switch tester:

Don't know how much an alu Minivan weighs but it didn't even budge:

I didn't mod them personally but I've got an acrylic plated caseless 75% board from swill with MX clears that are modded with 65g springs, stickered, lubed springs and sliders, sip sockets and trampoline nodded with silicone balls in the bottom.
