Post by: kriminal on Wed, 10 February 2010, 21:28:09
Saw one a japanese site {will find link later} that there was a special carry case created for the HHKB's. do you guys know of or can recommend a suitable pouch or other accessory to hold my Kb?
as i currently only have 1 Filco i carry it from work to home all the time. {in its original boxing and all LOL}.

well I'm looking into a proper accessory but i figured you guys could come up with better ideas.

{yes I'm a sad individual}

thanks!

buy a nice piece of hardwood, and make one.  Line it with closed cell foam, and velvet!

Well the company Case Logic has some nice messenger bags as well as sling bags. Check them out, maybe one of them fits the bill.

Cheers

That's a pretty good idea.  It looks like this particular model is only for the Apple Aluminum keyboard, though.  It doesn't look like it would work for a Filco, HHKB, etc.

Well they do have different sizes, one of the might fit...

However, judging by their Netbook sleeve prices, they're extremely expensive and everything costs extra with these guys...

Every time I see that logo, I think "WTF."

so far this is best i've come up with....
http://www.amazon.com/Pkt-Sleeve-Macbook-Pro-Blk/dp/B0027CTOJW/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I26SK9I1CX727S&colid=2HRQIXRWRE24C
took a 15" seeing as the filco is 14" however 15" might still be to small depending on how thick the foam is inside the pouch.

dang! still trying to find the link to the HHKB pouch...

FWIW I do remember seeing a pouch that is a manufacturer accessory for the HHKB. I think the specific one I saw was purple and kind of velvety.

I had seen those before for the HHKB:
Hard case (http://www.geekstuff4u.com/happy-hacking-hard-case.html)
Soft case they call a hard case (http://www.geekstuff4u.com/hard-case-for-happy-hacking-keyboard.html)

Neither of those seem to be what I remember seeing, but it doesn't much matter since the OP has the link they needed.

I remember a soft pouch with somewhat of a drawstring on the end to close it, I think with the HHKB logo prominently displayed on it in a light colour.

A carry case made of hardwood is not lightweight. I made the mistake of making a custom wood case for some Crown PZM microphones. Sturdy, protective, weighed a ton.

Hmm...maybe. I remember a richer purple with a softer, more velvety material, and I could have sworn it opened on the short end.

That's certainly close though.

I use a shoe pouch in flannel from Grenson. Works really well.
