This looks to be a pretty good deal from what I can see, at least compared to the prices I've seen.

Nice find! :thumb:
I just checked it out, and someone has rather foolishly put a bid on it at $99. They probably should have taken it at $150 while they had the chance. I'm guessing it will go well beyond the original BIN price as other folks find the auction and begin competing to win it.
I got almost $270 for the last one I sold.

People are idiots. But there are those who do it out of spite and cruelty.

Yep. It's been changed to a regular auction.

The "Buy-It-Now" option evaporates when the first valid bid is placed.
If you want to take a chance and play the game without paying the BIN price, you need to snipe, not bid.

Really! I never realized that. In one way, it makes sense... If someone bids on something, they'd feel alienated if someone else then bought it out from under them. But if a buyer's willing to take a certain BIN price and receives bids only under that price, it doesn't seem like they should then be disallowed to sell it for the BIN price, does it? Tricky.

Ebay loves to see anything that "generates excitement" because they feel that it makes buyers emotional and engaged.
Ebay does not give a damn about sellers, but they do throw sellers a bone on this one because once the bidding starts it can end up well over the BIN price.
Personally, I use "Fixed Price" when I want to sell something quickly - along with a reasonable price point.
An auction with a BIN option can be hijacked and forced to run for the full time period, for better or worse. Setting a BIN price close to the bid start is pointless, and starting a bid well below the BIN price can be problematic, too.
One way that a seller can use this in his favor is to run his normal auction with a fair and reasonable start bid, but put a sky-high BIN option on it and hope that somebody comes along who is desperate to get the item at any price.

Used for "light home use" - is that like in a lighthouse?

Went for 177.50 + 18.85 shipping. Not as high as I thought it might go!
