Title: Alternative to IBM Capsense

I have an F-107 (http://i.imgur.com/phyw49b.jpg) with an xwhatsit controller installed and I'm using xwhatsit's IBM Capsense (http://downloads.cornall.co/ibm-capsense-usb/) to assign keys.  It isn't the most intuitive gui ever made, it seems like the possible configurations themselves are very limited, and the incomplete documentation includes nothing regarding macros.  Maybe the Ergodox ecosystem got me spoiled and I'm expecting too much.

Am I locked into using xwhatsit's firmware, or are there alternatives?  And if not, how can I create a one-button macro that duplicates Windows' Alt+Tab, Tab shortcut?
