Title: Problems with Geekhack the website?
Post by: dantan on Sun, 02 April 2017, 08:45:00
Three times in the past month I have seen a weird message when trying to get to GH.

Twice Norton told me GH was a dangerous website.

One time Google Chrome told me there was no such website as GH.

Wonder if GH is under denial of service attack.

Sounds like a couple different things.  What browser are you using?  Do you have flash block/ad block installed?  An embedded image in a random thread might have set off your Norton.

As for GH site itself not loading, it happens every once in a while, don't worry about it.

What I wrote stands.  As you see, GH is clearly working fine.  Could have been any number of reasons why you saw that message, including some temporary maintenance downtime.

It just happened again, about 30 secs before I put my post.

Strangely Chrome flashed that message about three seconds, then I was taken to geekhack anyway. I did not click back button, reload, or whatever on my browser for that to happen.

Haven't had any issues with GH since all the HTTPS malarkey was sorted out.

I'm not worried or anything; it's not causing me problems. But just thought the admins may want to know as the site may be under attack. I think there was some problem in the long past when Geekhack was hacked, but it was before my time.

I don't know if it's anything to do with your network/firewall/computer settings.  I wonder if it's regional, based on your country.  Personally, I never see this message, and I use Chrome almost exclusively (and I'm on GH a lot), but I'm in the U.S.

If it isn't happening to anyone other than you, then it might not be the site that's under attack.  Just food for thought.

Never had this kind of issue. I've used a few different browsers to access GH over the past year (Vivaldi, Chrome, FF, Midori, Pale Moon, Opera, Seamonkey, Waterfox..) and the two issues I had were with VPN and Certificates.
