A fellow redditor is asking me for help on how to build a stainless steel atreus. I went through that process myself and documented the CAD files and parts I needed here: https://github.com/technomancy/atreus/tree/master/case/lasergist_steel_plates
particularly, we're curious about where to order screws in europe ? Mcmaster doesn't ship to europe.
we need this:
8x 14mm long M3 screws, low profile head https://www.mcmaster.com/#93070A071
8x 8mm long M3 hex nuts https://www.mcmaster.com/#94868A603
8x M3 small hex nuts https://www.mcmaster.com/#98676A100
Thanks for any suggestions !

Usually there should be at least one national shop, which provides the hardware you are asking for.
This site would be an option: http://www.mercateo.com/kw/distanzmuffe(20)m3/distanzmuffe_m3.html
About shipping outside of Germany (where they are based) they say, that one would need to request this with a special form.
I guess you could just google, to find something in your country.

I ordered a while ago here some screws: https://www.screwsandmore.de/
Maybe they have what you need!
-
Which country are you in? Which city?
Here in Sweden the go-to place is Sifvert Skruv (http://www.sifvert-skruv.se/). Often a little more expensive but they have everything. I don't think they export.
-
That's great thanks, I am in Sweden, if they have *everything* I might find these damn screws there.
I will let you know.
-
They don't seem to have these screws either. Only 12mm in M3 and not black-oxide.
The closest I can find is https://eu.shop.bossard.com/ie/en/8229/socket-products/hex-socket-head-cap-screws/bn-16_hex-socket-head-cap-screws-with-low-head-partially-fully-threaded but not in 14mm :(
-
Have you tried AliExpress or one of the other Chinese exporters? They might be a last resort option.
-
Yep I did and no luck either. I ll check with dustpuppy if 12mm or 16mm would do and order from the one I mentioned earlier I think but the order minimum is 100 pieces, which is a bit too much I think .
-
An alternative would be to use a threaded standoff with (shorter) screws on each side? Or just regular plain vanilla screws :p
Edit: meant standoff, not nut
-
Do they have to be black oxide AND "low profile"? Wouldn't a button head suffice?

Longer M3 bolts could be cut shorter with a Dremel cutting wheel, deburred and then blackened with "Gun blue" liquid from a gun store.
I have done both of these things but not to re-blacken black bolts, and I have Gun Blue on hand for other things, otherwise it would not be cost-effective.
