Title: First mechanical KB: Filco tenkeyless w/browns
Post by: noxiq on Mon, 15 February 2010, 20:27:38
So, a few weeks ago I stumbled on this site while searching around for a new keyboard. I'm currently typing on a Razer Arctosa (basically a Razer Lycosa w/o back-lighting). It's good for gaming, but I don't find it very nice for typing.

After looking around for a while on here, reading various reviews and such, I decided on getting a Filco Tenkeyless w/ browns.

It should be arriving in a couple of days. I'm looking forward to my first mechanical keyboard. :)

I think you made the right choice!  I went with blues first, and I traded for browns, and I like them 10x more.

Hey, thanks!

I was thinking of getting blues first, too, but from what everyone said, its really noisy, and I can't really have that. After looking into the browns a bit more I started to lean more in that direction.

I think I will enjoy the keyboard very much.

I think you'll enjoy the switch  It took me less than a month to have one blue and one brown keyboard after my G11 died.

I just picked up the exact board you're getting (my first mechanical and I'm also a newbie here) and I seriously love this thing.  You're going to enjoy it immensely!

Yes, sir!  From Elitekeyboards.  I really had no idea what I was missing until this thing arrived, but I'm floored by it.  Truly.

Blue Cherries are what I chose because I wanted some VOLUME!

I'm deaf now, but Ripster, the other huge fan of Blue Cherries on this board, has taught me very simple sign language techniques that I can use in public places that everyone can understand.  I've been getting beaten up constantly, but at least I'm back to enjoying human interaction again.

I start wondering how mankind managed to survive a century of typewriters.
If I hadn't read it here a hundred times, it would have never occurred to me that my beloved blues were noisy.

The only female on the chart is where ripster places himself. Go figure.

Cherry brown should have a woman like Kathleen Turner in Body Heat

The browns can produce a lot of sound when bottoming out on the Filco
But blues do have sound from the registration, coupled with bottoming out

Grats on your purchase all the same! Made quite a leap from your old kb
