Title: The Steam controller might be the worst controller I've ever used

Even worse than the Jaguar controller. Even worse than the N64.

In fact, this and some Atari controllers are the only things I can think of that are less responsive and cheap feeling.

Well, I haven't used a Steam controller yet.  But these were god awful...

Oh snap, I love my GC micro controller. It's the only madcatz/third party that never broke on me.

I have 2... and I love my xbox 360 controller instead. I dont know why they put the buttons as a tiny group in the wrong place. I have large hands and its still awkward to be reaching that far.

I guess I'm in the minority.  I like it, though I still use my 360 controller for action games.  It's not the be all and end all that they say, but for things like Civ and RTS/TBS, it's very intuitive to use.

Yeah I'm sticking with my 360 controller for the foreseeable future.
Never liked the Steam controller and won't be using it, ever.
Ugh I'm playing N64 right now, I never got to play Super Mario 64 so I've been playing through that and I have to agree that that cotroller is really quite bad.
I don't remember it being bad when I was young. I guess I'm spoiled.

Steam controller is great for games you should play it with. I don't know why people expect it to be a 1:1 replacement for an xbox controller. I'd never use it for games like dark souls, rocket league etc- the xbox controller is still king for those.

Steam controller lets you sit on your couch and comfortably play IMO games like civilization or games that don't require you to have to act in real time. Turn based games, cities skylines etc. I think it's best treated as a proxy for having a simplified mouse and keyboard.

Well... because its a controller?! It should be directly in comparison with other controllers... but instead its this weird thing not as good as a controller but also not as good as a keyboard&mouse.

I've had mine since Christmas and love using it for everything except rocket league (just can't get used to the button placement). For platformers and non-comp shooters (bioshock/far cry) I love it, and it has made civ SOOOOOOOO much more bearable and comfortable.

I actually used to own that controller. Long story short my brother broke the thumbstick playing Madden. I think I still have it lying around somewhere.
