They're Keytronics, considered to be the best rubber domes, but rubber domes nonetheless.

Looks a lot like a KT1000, yes.

Maybe I should paint this one black and call it a DAS?

I know, the DAS isn't a designer, but the designer isn't bad for a membrane.
Used GIMP to see what the keytronics designer might look like if I did whip out a can of black spray paint on it:

As opposed to the image in the posted link:

It's tempting to get the paint out...

I was always curious about the "weighted" keys on the original DAS. What the fuc*?

How much did they weight, and what did this bring the actuation force down to?

Keytronic Lifetime designer (http://www.keytronic.com/Home/products/specs/ltdesigner.htm) is probably my favorite (non ergo) rubber membrane board. It's a solid keyboard that is relatively cheap, with a good warranty.

Here is the chart from the original DAS, AFAIK it's what keytronic meant by weighted keys...

Looks basically identical what keytronics shows for lifetime designer "ergo technology":
I've had mine a while, not sure if it has this.  The Keytronics Lifetime Designer web page (http://www.keytronic.com/Home/products/specs/ltdesigner.htm) states "Now shipping with Ergo Technology", so does that imply that the older models did not?  Not sure, but either way it's one of the nicest rubber membrane keyboards I've used just as salcan stated

I think it's one of these (http://geekhack.org/showpost.php?p=151161&postcount=2596) at heart...at least the case is.

yeah, Das just copied the art, nice job.

I think they LT Designer always had the "ergo technology", it just sounds better than "weighted keys" which is totally confusing. They keys are all the the same, some just require more force to press down.

Need to dig out my Designer and take it for a spin! It's my only keyboard that's in storage.
