Sooo, the cherry blue switch under the space bar on my Scorpius M10 died this morning. After some soldering and super glue in a fail attempt to repair it, I'm just going to buy a new keyboard.
I have a Filco 87 w/ Brown's at home and absolutely love it. However, I need to find something cheaper for the office, any cheaper keyboard's out there with Cherry Browns?
Thanks.

I have some used Cherry Brown keyboards, PM me if your'e interested. They're full sized with a keypad and have double-shot key caps.
-
Wow, your Scorpius only lasted 3 months. (http://geekhack.org/showpost.php?p=129162&postcount=5) Sounds like they still are having quality problems with their PCBs/Soldering.
Was considering one for a cheap cherry Blue keyboard, despite what I had heard about it. Think it's being crossed off the list...
Buy nice or buy twice...

Are you planning to keep or sell the bum Scorpius board?

You could try the Cherry Corp SPOS keyboard at Dell - $70 (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Retail_POS_Keyboards/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=A0471542)(PROBABLY Brown Cherry) but I'd ask them to give you the full product code first to see if it's the same as the Ricercar SPOS keyboard. You can drive your companies security department nuts by swiping ID cards and spoofing them.
Thanks, from Dell's website, Manufacturer Part# : G86-62410EUAGSA. Is that the correct model with browns?

The good "Ricercar SPOS" models had a second part number that indicated it has browns... a second code starting with G80...

Well, if all else fails, I'm selling a Filco w/browns in the classifieds section. Holla!

How to tell a cherry brown g86 SPOS from a rubber dome g86 spos

Someone should buy one from Dell and report whether it has Cherry browns in it. I nominate elbowglue!

Just ordered it, I'll report back to the wolf pack.

What about the IBM SPOS keyboard (http://www.brutman.com/PCjr/pcjr_pictures.html)?
Of course, in this case SPOS stands for Sad Piece Of ****e rather than Small Point Of Sale.
Muhahaha :-D . Sorry, couldn't resist.

I've got a perfectly-good M10 that could be looking for a new home, now that I've got the Filco.

I'll talk to you in PM nearer to the weekend; maybe my Compaq 11802 and sweetener for your M10.

I'd be open to a straight trade, too.

Deal!
Must ship 11802 quickly before he changes his mind....

if you ask me, the 11802 is worth more money than the m10
WAY more

Blues are more scarce in my collection, increasing their value. I have five other boards with Cherry browns and zero with Cherry blues. And no cash.

Yea, I knew it was a gamble...it is a very sturdy keyboard however.
I'm keeping it, my Model M should be showing up any day now :).
-
They used an interesting way of guiding the key nonetheless. What about wobble and friction levels?
-
I'd return that beyotch with extreme prejudice.
-
bwah ha ha! We got another one guys. I have mrbill'S Scorpius M10 keyboard! and I'm such a lowlife that I haven't even shipped the Compaq 11802 I offered to 'trade' him.
What a trusting fellow. heh. Solid deal, good communication. Forgiving soul, too.

What about the Cherry G80-3000 /w browns from Datacal (http://www.datacal.com/p-1254-cherry-g80-3000-keyboard-with-brown-switches.aspx)? It's my daily driver at work these days.
-
I second that motion. Good choice.
-
That would be the smart thing to do if I wasn't so lazy...I've been pounding on my new model M while making rude gestures at my Dell POS.

The G81-8000 HPCUS (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330409965979&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT) has browns, plus Double-shots, plus true n-key rollover. Each of mine was <$30 shipped.

Do not buy a keyboard by that model number unless you've actually seen and touched it! The regular G81-8000 (http://www.cherry.de/deutsch/produkte/alle_produkte_business_MultiBoard_G81-8000.htm) has MY-switches. If Ricercar got one with MX browns, then it was mislabeled, plain and simple.
-
Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Ricercars back label on that Brown Cherry version.

EDIT: That ricercar is full of ****. This is the bottom of a G80 HPDUS, not a G81. I'll get him to post the color of the switches when the G81 HPCUS arrives.
-
Alas, G81-8000 HPCUS indeed is MY with double shots. At least it has double shots.
