I was just looking through amazon to see if they have any mechanical boards. I came across this (http://www.amazon.com/Matias-Tactile-Pro-Keyboard-3-0/product-reviews/B0034BD37O/ref=cm_cr_dp_all_summary?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending) review of the Matias Tactile Pro for the Mac. I'm thinking this reviewer is NOT a member of geekhack!

Seemingly didn't understand what the Apple's Extended II keyboard was much less alps mechanical switches.

I'll bet if it was a really noisy chiclet keyboard he'd be having an orgasm. ;)
-
Sounds like he would rather use the on-screen keyboard on the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. Silent, unless he had long finger nails.

Took a quick look at the reviews on German Amazon:
"[...] It does indeed click! [...]" - 2 stars. LOL
-
That is so fail. Did they not even see the product description? Did they not go read reviews? I honestly do not know what they were expecting. Oh well.

Hmm, I can't find any product listing of any Matias board there. Where'd you see that?

Sorry, not Matias, G80-3000LSCDE (http://www.amazon.de/product-reviews/B000NDD524/ref=sr_1_1_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1).

Good point. It is overpriced for what it is.
-
You should hear my 1397003. That's what even I call noisy.
clack - poiiingggggggg

The world is full of stupid people.

Yep.

There is always a small percentage of reviews on Amazon who freak out and return products basically because they are what the description said they were. The amazing thing to me is that someone would write a review about it. Clearly not only didn't they get it initially but still aren't getting it.
However in this case, I confess that I have never listened to a ALPS Simplified Type 1 (Fukka) to my knowledge so might not like it either, really can't say.
-
It does have cheap keys for a $150 keyboard.
I actually like the Matias Tactile Pro 3. The feel is nice, the case is stylish (if you can get past the clear and shiny cover (which seems to be bling for MAC people)), and the printing is clear and pleasing.
If you can get past the noise, and your co-workers don't strangle you, it is actually a quality product.

it's like posting that you are not going to buy something in the classifieds discussion forum.
Win.

same customer, re Grado Prestige Series SR80i Stereo Headphone:
"My first use, on a very long flight, of the S80i proved to be a total disappointment. I had high expectations after reading so many positive reviews, but the sound quality did not seem any better than from my ear-buds that came with my iPod. One of the cushioned ear pieces came off - never to be found again. The excellent part of this transaction was the easy return."
-
Either this guy's a review troll, a cheap bastard who buys **** and returns it, or both.
-
"My first use, on a very long flight,
What kind of dumb **** auditions audio gear on an airplane?

And where is the San Juaquin Valley anyhow?

Bose customers.

And where is the San Juaquin Valley anyhow?
Well, there is a San Joaquin Valley. As already seen in the Tactile Pro review, the guy can't spell. Indeed, either a review troll or a moron. Still leaning towards the former.
-
I like Puffy's face in that shot.

Yup, the guy must be an idiot. How could you lose the ear piece on headphones of that size?
-
and how can you PERMANENTLY lose an earpiece on an AIRPLANE?!?
-
...One attached to a cable no less?
-
It takes a special kind of [Republican politician] to do that.
-
Half of them are below the median IQ level.
Probably even half of the people above the median IQ level don't know what a median is.

What, that thing in the middle of a boulevard?

At least that guy seems to be legit, just a regular n00b who's used relatively quiet 'boards for all his life. Citing my mom, "Nobody uses these noisy oldfashioned keyboards any more!"
Speaking of G80 reviews, I found this one (http://www.amazon.de/review/R1TGSO601QHE5M/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R1TGSO601QHE5M) thought-provoking. "...but as opposed to the olden days they will only hold up for a few months during daily use. Either some keys start squeaking or binding, or as in this case, some stop registering completely." (I guess the latter problem was some soldering issue, since the new G80s use the internal wire bridges quite intensely. This lead-free crap is no fun.) He basically concludes "still the same nice touch, but the quality has really gone down the drain". This was late 2008.
