You can still buy them from Diatec in Japan, just not elite. I don't really blame him, either. You remember all that, right, pook?
Haha - but he wants tenkeyless.
Boring technical sidenote. Someday I'll crack open this cherry (you know what I meant) and look for 5V pads. I don't think you can get the 3.5V needed for a simple LED swap.
Blue Leds require more forward voltage.
Just saying, I doubt Majestouch stopped stocking it because of the scan rate issue. I think it had more to do with Welly stalking him outside his apartment.
I like the Fukkas over the Blues. Also closer to the Model M.
Frankly I'd recommend just getting a Filco Blue Cherry tenkeyless and be happy. LEDs are green. Being green is in.
Not in black.
Just IBM Industrial Gray ($500 and the whole kit is yours! (http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-7587-Industrial-Computer-Works_W0QQitemZ190373993741QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2c532c9d0d)).Show Image(http://i12.ebayimg.com/05/i/001/2c/19/fe6c_12.JPG)
But do you know where I can find one? ;-) What other keyboards are available with ALPS switches? Any tenkeyless ones?
lol, welly was on fire with that...
um, yea, sorry about that guys ;)
lol, the OP emailed me looking to buy the zero (i sold it long ago).
yea well, it wasnt so much a minor keyboard defect that got me going, it was the lack of service (return policy) that got me going... otherwise that entire episode wouldnt have happened at all...
:-D Ah, the memories.
I would stay with the Model M. I don't think the difference in resistance is that great between XMs and BS that the flaws in the XM switches would be disappointing (Model Ms' resistance does vary some, though, so YMMV). If you're looking to stay in the 65-70g of resistance range, I would stick with the best.
So what are the flaws exactly with the XMs? The only thing I could find sniffing the forums is that they are "balky". I'm not sure even sure what that means, ha ha.
I'd go with the Model M, but I want something a bit smaller and with a Windows key. How do the XMs compare to Cherry Blues then?
Great idea but why pay anybody? My laser printer can do that.

When I sell my keyboards ALL will become magically NIB.
Even better, get a factory in rural china to start making Model M space saver clones. They are totally down for that shizz.
People would get suspicious when they notice the "IBN" logo, but it could just as easily be a typo.
Hell, Newegg did it. I just put one of Imtel's latest processors into my rig, and it's blazin' fast now. Thanks, Newegg!
I haven't visited chinatown since starting my keyboard hobby. I doubt they'll have anything other that rubber domes, but I WILL be on the look for chinzy mainland china mechanicals next time. You never know what you'll find in chinatown.
What puzzles me about that one is that Unicomp built that Spacesaver for iMav (he sold it to Webwit), but they couldn't build any more after that. Astounding.
