I seen this one when it first listed. I would eventually like to add one of these to my ergo collection. I don't necessarily think I need a NIB example though. Can anyone comment on whether this is a good deal? I see one seller on eBay is asking $1400 for theirs!

A cherry keyboard is never ever worth anywhere near that amount. I know it's exceptionally rare, but still.

Wondering if you can remove the MX Brown switches and replace with MX blues?
Is that possible?

I wasn't aware that MX5000 existed with the italian layout.

Of course.

Italian layout? The listing mentions that this keyboard is an English version.

The picture speaks for itself. Trust me, I'm accustomed to that layout.
EDIT: Where it reads "english version" it's actually the translation of the sale message, for the original text is in italian.

Thanks for the info. The translation issue would make sense.

barnaywang has had that 5000 up for months and even though it's ANSI I doubt he will get the $1400 he is asking for it, unless someone with even deeper pockets than our OP shows up ;) , not even the fabled "4 x G80-5000 auction" got $1400/board IIRC (they got more supposedly because of boxes and manuals, and one was a Russian version)
Whether this is a good deal? I don't know. Probably not. If you don't care about the Italian layout most ISO ones go for less, I think there was a NIB HAMDE that went for $500 or so, a used Norwegian one for about $400 (and NO is rare). So most likely you could find a HAADE or HAMPO for less.

I will agree to disagree with you on that statement

I can see we're evenly divided on this.
