OK well, this made me give up :) This is the most unlogical tool I have ever used. Read the whole walkthrough tons of times. So managed to make one layer uploaded it to my Chinese PCB and then tried again to log into the bootmapper client and there we go: error opening ps2avrGBdevice. Nothing, I have tried worked. If I follow the geek hack walktrough for the shortcut buttons nope. The only thing that works for me is while pushing the ctrl button to plug it in usb and the LEDs start to flash. The only way to use HID bootflash. Also I cannot manage to make the Fn button to work. This PCB has two Fn Buttons: one is on the right as usual and one is on the right shift. The one the right shift is working but the other is not. Can someone help me with this please? It was easier to work with the teensy software than this one :) Thank you in advance for the help :)

error opening ps2avrGBdevice.
What target are you using?
-
When you're uploading the new keymap, make sure the box is checked that says "reboot after upload."
As for the function key, I would need to see a layout and a screenshot of your current keymap before I could help you with that.
-
So I have downloaded boot mapper client so far so good. Also downloaded ps2avrGB4U_firmware_V1.3.2_170531 because I have read that I have to upload firmware to enable all the functions. I have opened the HID boot flashed and flashed it with this: ps2avrGB4U_NKRO.hex and there it all goes down. No matter what target I tried it doesn't connect even the LED options are not working. If you tell me how to check the current firmware I will make a screenshot of it. I would love to flash it with the stock one, but cannot find it and even in the help page that they gave me its not working :D
-
I'm a bit rusty with the boot mapper client but I recall it being easy. What PCB are you trying to flash?
If, after flashing, nothing works, you have most likely flashed a wrong firmware for your board. Let's try to figure out what it is.
-
The PCB I'm using is this one : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mechanical-keyboard-hc-keyboarded-translucidus-keyboarded-resin-keyboarded-personality-keyc-for-aps/32679211714.html?ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1_10152_10065_10151_10068_10136_10157_10137_10060_10138_10155_10062_10156_437_10154_10056_10055_10054_10059_303_100030_100031_10099_100029_10103_100028_10102_10101_10096_10147_10052_10053_10050_10107_10142_10051_10084_10083_10080_10082_10081_10177_10110_519_10111_10112_10113_10114_10180_10183_10182_10185_10184_10078_10079_10073_10186_10123_142,searchweb201603_16,ppcSwitch_4&btsid=e6fae860-f259-4734-bdb0-edc1535b8625&algo_expid=891edff2-8555-49d0-aa35-db2bc18bce3b-3&algo_pvid=891edff2-8555-49d0-aa35-db2bc18bce3b I'm trying to find the stock firmware for it :D What a Chinese clone I have bought :D :D :D

Unless they have changed it, the Satan GH60 is powered by a m32u4, I'm not sure ps2avr even works with that, but you should be able to use QMK.
-
I have tried now flashing it with the firmware from here https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=41464.0 and nothing :D total headbanger. Will try now with ATMEL flip now. just have to find the drivers for the 32u4 :)

No, that's specifically for the genuine GH60. The Satan GH60 is a derivative from the rev. A.
Try the TMK keymap generator (https://tkg.io/) with GH60(RevCHN)
-
Nope :D The only I have managed to something is flashing it via HIDBootFlasher with ps2avrGB4U_NKRO and when flashed with it I'm able to connect to the keyboard with Bootloader. But No backlight options and still the Fn key is not working :) I have sent an email to the seller to check if they can provide me the original hex file.
-
Could you post a picture of the PCB?
-
There it is :D From what I was able to see its not 32u4 but atmega 33A .
-
Ok, let's try the simple things first.
Let's assume the PCB is 100% functional and the firmware is correct and it works. Let's also assume the brightness it set to zero, so try increasing it. Read this (http://winkeyless.kr/infomation-on-ps2avru-and-ps2avrgb/) (point 5) and this (http://winkeyless.kr/firmware-installing-and-setting/).
If it doesn't work, try these methods. [1] (http://winkeyless.kr/how-to-check-the-hardware-is-broken/), [2] (http://=http://winkeyless.kr/how-to-check-a-pcb-is-working/), [3] (http://=http://winkeyless.kr/how-to-fix-when-keyboard-doesnt-work-after-uploading-firmware/).
Ultimately, email winkeyless.kr for some clue, bearing in mind that this might not be an official product.
-
So the first one is working for me. The second also, If I flash it with the NKRO file all the buttons and the keyboard is working, but the FN key is not there. No action when pressed and due to that no layers :D
-
I'm really out of ideas now.
-
Yeah. Last night I want to throw it out from the window :D I was pissed off. Have sent mail to winkeyless to ee what they will say. If not I have quite expensive monument :D
-
From what I was able to see its not 32u4 but atmega 33A .
Are you sure about the m33A? I can't find any reference anywhere for it. Perhaps it's a m32A.

If not, you could ask hasu about porting TMK for the m32A. Shouldn't that hard (for him).
-
The sheer stupidity is that on the chip soldered on the board is so hard to see what revision is. I can still use it but not layered. The other thing is that the Fn+ is still working so I might be soldering two wires to the Fn(normal one) and see if that will work.
-
So I think I found the issue but not so sure :) On the PCB there are pre-soldered diodes 1N4148 and also there are factory drilled holes for adding another if needed at least I think they are this. So if I measure with a multimeter on the Fn key the circuit is open, for every other the circuit is closed, the multimeter is having a value. Adding a picture below so if I'm wrong please correct me
-
Problem solved by trial and error. Faulty diode. Soldered new one and all working :D :D :D
-
Glad to hear that you got your board working.
Enjoy.
-
Thank you very much Talkingtree. Hope my girlfriend enjoys it as it was built for her as she got in love in the 60% ones :D if not I will redesign it in something different.

I'm sure she will. What keycaps are you dressing it up with?
-
For now its with dolch cheap PBTs from aliexpress, but I'm on the search for Troubled minds key set at the moment. And it appears to be hard to find one.
There it is :

How about GMK Valentine for your valentine?
-
Hmmmmm those look sleek :D Do you have for sale :)

Hmmmmm those look sleek :D Do you have for sale :)
I don't but I've seen someone selling them in the classified section.

Originative has them for $80 which is not bad for a 165 key keyset.
