Title: [SOLD] IBM Model M SSK
Post by: lions2 on Thu, 06 July 2017, 00:44:01
I am relatively new to this game, just wanted to share this find:
http://www.ebay.com/bfl/viewbids/253017496672?item=253017496672&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2565

I was watching this auction due to the lack of 'hot' keywords in the name I figured it would go low. Convinced myself I didn't need it with around a half hour left.
At that point point the auction was at around $150 USD shipped.

This thing just sold for $890 USD! No product label on the back or anything.

It's a very early & unique model. Not much info on it, so hard to put a valuation.

I assumed it was just a vanilla SSK with a missing sticker and was at $150 when I seen it last. I didn't even give it a second look. The exposure on eBay is second to none.

Yikes—$890 for a SSK with no label?? What, is it, like, full of plutonium?

It's a very early & unique model. Not much info on it, so hard to put a valuation...

How about, like, $100–150? I mean, no label. Although I guess you could make one, if you still had a dot-matrix printer...

Yeah, the exposure to nutty peeps with more dough than they know what to do with!
