Title: Is "Off Topic" really off-topic?
Post by: ander on Fri, 07 July 2017, 15:10:52
Is the "Off Topic" section really "off-topic"? True, this is the area where we discuss everything but keyboards—but each topic here is its own topic, isn't it? For the name to be accurate, then, should we be encouraged to drift away from each thread's original subject?

Also, I've noticed that GH's admins chose to omit the hyphen from "Off-Topic", which, as an adjective, would normally be hyphenated. "Off Topic" without the hyphen means "a topic that is 'off' "—e.g. one that's begun to spoil. Is this the admins's way of implying that anything not related to KBs is malodorous? If so, obviously they haven't smelled any boards that were used in offices in the '70s–'80s.  :?P

If at first you don't succeed, remove all evidence that you've tried.
