Title: [IC] DSA MEKA (a D.Va inspired keyset)
Post by: AuthenticDanger on Wed, 12 July 2017, 15:02:29
I've been playing with the idea of making a D.Va inspired keyset. I like the idea of having a set of non-latin alphas (like Otaku) and since D.Va is form Korea, it would be in Hangul:

Blue Alphas, Pink/White/Orange Accents:

If Hangul is what the people want, it would have to be dye sub PBT (since SP isn't going to make Hangul molds just for us) and if Hangul is voted down then it could be doubleshot ABS.

Colors are Pink/Blue/White with a splash of Overwatch Orange to reflect D.Va's pilot suit and the set is named for the Korean mech army (Mobile Exo-Force of the Korean Army).

If people are interested, I'll whip up some proper novelties. I tossed in some text novelty keys for a little flavor, though they aren't set in stone in the slightest. Everything is subject to change with feedback from interested parties.

Thanks for looking!

If you pay enough I'm pretty sure they'd make the Hangul molds.

Not for me but it defo reminds me of D.Va :thumb:

Good luck with the set.

I'd rather see white base alphas with blue legends.

And maybe a "Nerf This" on backspace :)

I can certainly rotate the colors around. And I love the "Nerf This" on the backspace. I'll include that in the next round of mockups for sure.

DSA profile hangul keycaps would be awesome, kind of like DSA Otaku but for koreaboos instead. IMO, green would be more accurate to D.va's color scheme than orange.

I'm certainly trying to attract a similar audience as Otaku by having Hangul alphas :)

As for the orange, I thought it was a nice nod to Overwatch's logo. There's certainly some green in the MEKA logo and the canopy of the mech, so I'll try swapping the orange for a light green and see if that looks better.

Love the edited version with white alphas. I'd be super interested in buying this!

I think the greens should just be a small accent; perhaps making them the font color for some mods?

I don't know what colors SP can dye sub for legends, so I don't know if green is possible. I'll see if I can get an answer and then mock something up with less green. In that case, I think the Spacebar would become white (maybe blue) and the escape and enter keys would go to blue (and I'd likely flip the F row color blocks).

I'll certainly see if there are options though. Thanks for the input!
