Title: Honeywell Micro switch vs. HHBK Topre
Post by: Eugene94 on Wed, 12 July 2017, 22:32:02
I am curious if anyone has had the opportunity to try out both. What are the differences and which one did you like more or which one do you think is better? Why?

They're very different. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

Honeywell Hall effect is a potentially very smooth but in practice quite willful switch that doesn't actually take well to dirt or dust and which appears to be almost impossible to convert to a usable protocol. It's also an inherently extremely linear switch with a variety of weightings. Topre, by contrast, is an instantly usable, modern rubber dome keyboard with capacitive sensing and whose switches have a very typical feel, whose tactility and weighting also change depending on the type you want. One was meant for use in space shuttles, the other was meant for hackers that use a 20% keyboard. Come to think of it apples and oranges is much too close to each other.

Which one would you say is capable of the most WPM?

REALLY depends on the variants and your own preferences, but as you'll probably never be able to get a Micro Switch keyboard working, I'd go with Topre if that's your only two choices :p .
