I own a ipad pro for 3 weeks or so now.
I built up a chain:
-lightning OTG cable
-USB 3.0 hub (without it wouldnt work at all)
-keyboard (b. mini, ergodox)
my problem is that it works for somewhat 2 minutes.
Then it says
"accessory not supported", it stops working.
replugging doesnt fix it. I have to restart the ipad prp, after I get the same errors.
Has someone a idea?

my guess is it's probably drawing too many amps.
is this a powered hub or an unpowered, try a powered hub..
-
I googled very briefly and you're far from the only person having this issue.
Some people seem to think it's a software bug that Apple needs to fix.

using a powered hub is no optiin. after all its aim is portable: I dont feel like hunting a wall charger everywhere

Same problem with iPad Pro 12.9 (1st Gen) almost same setup, diff keyboards. Never found a solution. Gave in and just use the official keyboard that apple sells for the ipad pro.

No way I gonna buy that. Will try my luck with Bluetooth boards then: hhkb jp bt could work out nicely.

If the problem is too much current draw, could you reroute the USB power wires and hotwire the keyboard with batteries?
-
I agree with others who have chimed in that this is a power draw problem.
I have used small keyboards that do not draw excessive power successfully (Vortex Pok3r, KBP V60 mini), but only to a point. iOS will reboot itself with every push notification retrieval cycle when such devices are connected and the USB is in an idle state (i.e., the keyboard is not actively being used). I doubt Apple will ever fix this.
I've started using Bluetooth keyboards instead. I am using the Plum Nano 75 now, and it works flawlessly.

I will throw another vote for bluetooth.
I could only get the Apple keyboard to work on my iPad Pro via physical connection. I have never had an issue with a bluetooth keyboard.
